In the name of God Amen the xxixth [29th] day of August A thowsand five hundreth foure skore foure [1584]
I John Barrowe of the parrishe of Biddenden beinge sicke of bodie but whole of mynde (thanckes be to God) doe make and ordaine this my last my last will and Testament in manner and forme followinge
First I recommende my soule to allmightie God my lorde and saviour and my bodie to the grownde whence it shall please God

Item I give to putt into the poore mens boxe fyve shillinges ymmediatlie after my decease
Item I will and give tenne shillinges to twentie poore people of honest fame and name wthin the parrishe of Biddenden which is vjd a peece of them to be distributed ymmediatelie after my decease by my executor or there executors or assignes

Item I will to Margery Bigge my wyves daughter foure of my best ewes and five shillinges to be delivered unto her by my executor ymmediatelie after my decease
Item I will and give to Jone my eldest daughter twentie pounds of good and currant money of England to be paide unto her at the age of twentie yeares or at the day of her mariage the which shall first happen to be paide by my Executors there executors or assignes
Item I will and give unto Katherine my yongest daughter twentie poundes of good and lawfull money of England to be payde unto her by myne executor or his exeecutors or assignes at the age of twentie yeares or at the daie of her marriage that which shall first happen

Item I will and give to William Barrowe my eldest sonne tenne poundes of good and laufull money of England to be paide unto him by my executor or his executor or assignes at the age of xxj yeares Also I will and give the said Willm my sonne my best brasse pott
Item I will and give to John Barrowe my yongest sonne tenne poundes of good and currant money of England to be paide unto him by my executor his executor or assignes at the age of xxj yeares

Provided allwaies and my will is that if anie of my children doe happen to departe this mortall life before they come to the ages above expressed or the daie of marriage, that then that money to them by me given shall returne and remaine to the residue of my children that then shalbe living

Item I will and give to my cosen Thomas Barrowe foure busshells of wheate to be delivered to him by my executor ymmediatelie after my decease Also I forgive him that money which he oweth me

Item my will is my debtes and legacies beinge paide and performed all the residue of my goodes to be equally devided amonge all my children
Provided allwaies if all my childrem departe this mortall life before they be married or come to ye age of xxjti yeares, That then all my goodes to them given shall remaine to my Cosen Thomas Barrowe or his heires
Provided allwaies and my will is that my executor shalhave the bringinge up of my daughters till they accomplishe theire severall ages of xiiij yeares uppon the chargies of myne executor or executors or his executor or assignes

This is the last wyll and testam[en]t of me the sayde John Barrowe as touching my lands lienge in the parrishe of Goodherst

I will and give & bequethe to Willyam Barrowe and John Barrowe my two sonnes all my housinge and landes to them and theire heires
Item my will is that my executor or executors shall receyve all my rent of houses and land keepinge them well repaired until my sonnes come to there severall ages of one and twentie yeares, and then my executor or executors or there executor or assignes shall make over to my sonne or sonnes a true accompte and deliver up the lands and the profitte thereof unto my sonne or sonnes when they come to their several ages of xxjti yeares
Item my will is that my executor shall ne(i)ther strippe nor waist [wast] but onlie for the reparations

Item I ordaine and make John Evernden and Thomas Barrowe my executors of this my last will and testament, to whome I give xls [40s] betweene them for theire paines

John Barrawe married Elyner Bygge 3 May 1568 at St. George, Benenden, Kent.
Son William Barro was baptised, s. of John, 8 Sep 1569 at St. George, Benenden, Kent.
Son John Barrow was baptised 25 Nov 1571 at Benenden.
Daughter Joan Barrow was baptised 8 Nov 1573 at Biddenden.
Daughter Katterine Barrowe was baptised 26 Feb 1575/6 at Biddenden.
