In the Name of God Amen I John Bassett of Eltham in the County of Kent being of sound and disposing Mind Memory and Understanding do make and publish this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following that is to say
First As to my Immortal Soul I commit that to God who gave it trusting for Salvation As to my Body I commit it to the Earth from whence it was extracted and I desire to be buried at Eltham in Kent

I Also desire my Sister Ann Smith of Greenwich in the County of Kent to be my whole and sole Executrix to be at the Expence of my Burial and likewise to Pay all my Debts of every description

I bequeath 40L of lawful Money to be equally divided between my Nephews and Nieces Mary, Hannah, Joseph Elizabeth and Wm Patmore late of Hadlow in the County of Kent
40L of lawful Money to be equally divided between my Brother William Bassett and Martha Bassett his Daughter of Greenwich in the County of Kent
40L of lawful Money to my Brother Robert Bassett of Greenwich in the County of Kent
10L of lawful Money to my Sister in Law Mary Bassett of Bromley in the above County
20L to be equally divided between Elizabeth and Ann Bassett Daughters of the above Mary Bassett of the Parish of Bromley in Kent
40L of lawful Money to my Sister Lucy Smithers of Offham in the above County

After my Sister Ann Smith the within named Executrix hath paid all the within mentioned Legacies I bequeath to her all the rest and residue

John Bassett Signd this 12th day of April 1801 in the presence of Jno Green Elisa Green
