and I give and bequeath unto my daughter Martha the
wife of Edward George of Edenbridge aforesaid farmer the sum of Two
hundred pounds of lawful money of Great Britain
Also I give and bequeath unto my daughter Susanna Bassett the sum of Two
hundred pounds of like lawful money
Also I give and bequeath unto my daughter Mary Bassett the sum of Two
hundred pounds of like lawful money
Also I give and bequeath unto my son Thomas Bassett the sum of One
hundred pounds of like lawful money
Also I give and bequeath unto my son Joseph Bassett the sum of One
hundred pounds of like lawful money
Also I give and bequeath unto my son James Bassett the sum of One
hundred pounds of like lawful money
The said Legacies to be raised and levied out of my Estates real and personal
And paid by my Executrix hereafter named the said six legatees at the and of
Twelve months next after my demise.
And the reason for my not giving my sons Richard Benjamin Henry and
George legacies as the others first above mentioned is because they have
already received of me the sum of one hundred pounds each
And Richard fifty pounds more but my Will is that he shall deduct and allow
to his brothers the said fifty pounds out of the part of my Estate hereinafter
devised to him
Also I give devise and bequeath unto my loving wife Martha Bassett all my
freehold Messuages or tenements heritaments? lands farms and premises with the
appurts situate in Edenbridge aforesaid or elsewhere
together with all my Leasehold messuages or tenements farms and lands
with the appurts situate in the parish of Limpsfield in the county of Surrey or
elsewhere with the loans by which I hold the same all with said messuages
or tenements farms lands and premises are in and in the occupation of
myself my tenants �?� or assigns Also together with all and singular my
ready money securities for money household goods effects and personal
estate whatsoever and wheresoever after payment of my just debts expenses
and legacies as above mentioned to hold all my said estates real and personal
to her my said wife Martha Bassett and that aforgos for and during so long
as she shall continue to be my widow solo and unmarried on trust �?� for
the purpose thereinafter authorised
that is to say for the purpose of her own
maintenance and the maintenance and education such of my children as shall
be minors surviving their minorities and also for and toward the support and
maintenance of such of my children as shall remain unmarried during
anytime of their�?�.or infirmities but no such maintenance or support to
extend to any of my said children after they have respectively received their
legacies notwithstanding they shall remain single
But in case my said wife Martha Bassett shall cease to be my widow whether the same shall happen by her marrying again or by death then and in case and immediately after her so marrying or dying I give devise and bequeath all and singular my said messuages or tenements farms lands and estates real and personal with their respective appurtenants to my sons Thomas Bassett Richard Bassett Henry Bassett Joseph Bassett Benjamin Bassett George Bassett and James Bassett to hold the same and every part thereof to them my said sons their heirs Executors and assigns forever to take as tenants in union and not as joint tenants subject thereof to the three legacies to my three daughters as aforesaid if the same shall not have been discharged
And I do make constitute and appoint my said wife Martha Bassett Executrix of this my said last Will and Testament provided always that if my said wife do marry again then in that case I give and bequeath unto her the sum of two hundred pounds of lawful money of Great Britain to be paid to her by my Executors hereinafter named at the end of three months next after her remarrying again but my Will is that thereafter as Executrix shall immediately cease and I do then appoint my three sons Thomas Bassett Henry Bassett and Joseph Bassett joint Executors of the my last Will and Testament provided always that ��?�� if any one or more than one of my said sons shall agree to take my said Messuages or Tenancies and Lands with the appurtenants in Edenbridge aforesaid the same shall be put to a fair valuation by two indifferent men one to be chosen by the Executors and the other by the purchaser or purchasers and if two of them should not agree then such two men to choose a third man whose valuation shall be final and ����
And Lastly I revoke and make void all and every other Will and Testament by me
at anytime heretofore made in sheets or whereof I have to this my said last
Will and Testament contained in two of paper set my hand to this first sheet
and to this last my hand and seal this 3rd day of June in the year of our Lord
