Item after my brother William Bates is paid his Legacy of one hundred and twenty pounds given him by his Father Samuel Bates in his last Will and Testament and now in my hands as Executor to my father deceased and all my just debts be paid and funeral expences and probate to this my Will be paid
all the rest of my Estate where and whatsoever I leave to bring my two sons up withal and after my two sons arive to the age one and twenty years what of my Estate shall be then left over bringing them up I give it equally to be divided between my two sons and Mary my loving wife if she shall be then my widow
And if any of my sons should dye before they arive to the age of one and twenty years my Will is that the other son shall have the others part and if they should both dye before they arive to the age of one and twenty years I give it to Mary my loving wife whom I nominate constitute and appoint my whole and sole Executrix to this my last Will and Testament revoking all other Wills by me heretofore made and do declare this to be my last
and I do nominate and appoint my Father John Fawrall of Northiam in Sussex Farmer and Thomas French of Northiam wheeler to be Trustees to see the Execution of this my last Will performed by my Executrix
and I do acknowledge the words above if she shall be then my Widow interlined to be done
before my sealing this will and to my desire
In Witness whereof I have set my hand and seal this second day of May in the Ninth of the Reign of our
Sovereign Lord George the Second of England Scotland etc. Defender of the Faith Anno Dom. 1736 John
Bates Signed sealed and declared to be the last Will and Testament of John Bates the testator in the
presence of us who at his request and in his presence have subscribed our names as witnesses

The above registered Will of John Bates deceased was proved the 14th day of July 1737 before the Worshipful George Paul LLD Vicar General to the most Rev�d Father in God John by devine providence Lord Archbishop of Canterbury Primate of all England � to Mary Bates, relict the executrix.
