Whereas I am possessed of several Household Goods Plate and China and of the several Sums of Six
hundred pounds four per Cent Bank Annuities and three hundred pounds three and a half per Cent
Bank Annuities now standing in my Name in the Bank of England
Now I the said Ann Beak do hereby give and bequeath unto Andrew Becket of Milton next
Gravesend in the County Kent Vintner? and John Allen of Milton next Gravesend aforesaid
Gentleman all and every of my said Household Goods and Furniture of Household Plate and China
and also the said two several Sums of Six hundred pounds four per Cent Bank Annuities and three
hundred pounds three and a half per Cent Bank Annuities and also all other my Monies Stocks Funds
and Securities for Money Right Credits Personal Estate and Effects whatsoever and wheresoever and
of what nature kind or quality soever the same are shall or may consist of at the time of my decease
To hold the said Monies Stocks Funds and Securities Goods Plate Chinas personal Estate and Effects and every part and parcel thereof unto the said Andrew Beckett and John Allen their Executors Administrators and Assigns for ever but nevertheless Upon this Special Trust and Confidence in them reposed and to and for the several uses Intents and purposes hereinafter mentioned and declared of and concerning the same (that is to say)
Upon Trust that they the said Andrew Becket and John Allen or the Survivor of them his Executors or Administrators shall and do as soon as conveniently may be after my decease take or Cause to be made or taken a full true and particular Inventory and account of my said Monies and Securities for Money Goods Plate China and Personal Estate and Effects and after payment of my Just Debts Funeral Expences and the Charges of Proving this my Will
then Upon Trust that they the said Andrew Becket and John Allen or the Survivor of them his Executors or Administrators shall and do permit and suffer my Daughter Ann Johnson of Perry Street aforesaid Widow to have the use and occupation of the said Goods Plate and China and pay unto or otherwise empower and Permit my said Daughter Ann Johnson to receive and take the yearly Interest Dividends and Annual Produce of the said two several Sums of Six hundred Pounds four per Cent Bank Annuities and three hundred pounds three and a half per Cent Bank Annuities and of all the rest and residue of my Monies Stocks Funds and Securities (except payment or Dividends for or in respect or in part of the Principal) for and during the Term of her natural Lie or so long as she shall continue a Widow Sole and unmarried for her own use and benefit
And from and immediately after the decease or Marriage of my said Daughter Ann Johnson which
shall first happen then I do hereby give and bequeath the said two several Sums of Six hundred
Pounds four per Cent Bank Annuities and three hundred pounds three and a half per Cent Bank
Annuities and all and every of my said Goods Plate China personal Estate and Effects whatsoever
unto my said Grandaughter Ann Johnson the Daughter of my said Daughter her Executors
Administrators and Assigns for ever
And (I) hereby order and direct my said Trustees and the Survivor of them his Executors and Administrators to pay transfer assign and
deliver the same and every part thereof unto my said Grandaughter immediately after the decease or Marriage of my said
Daughter as aforesaid
And I do hereby nominate constitute and appoint the said Andrew Becket and John Allen Joint Executors of this my last Will and Testament
And my mind and Will is and I do hereby declare that my said Trustees Andrew Becket and John Allen and the Survivor of them his Executors and Administrators shall and may from time to time sell and dispose of transfer and assign the said Trusts Stocks Funds and Securities and call in and receive the Monies due thereon and all other Stocks Funds and Securities whatsoever to be substituted purchased or taken in lieu thereof or any part thereof and again from time to time to place out the Monies arising by such Sale or Sales or dispositions or any part thereof in Real or Government Securities or other Parliamentary Funds
And that such stocks Funds and Securities so to be taken and all Interest to grow due for the same and the Dividends and Annual Produce thereof shall be upon such and the same Trusts and to and for the such and the same uses Intents and purposes as are hereinbefore expressed and declared of and concerning the same and that they my said Executors and Trustees their Executors and Administrators shall and may respectively by and out of the said Trust Monies and Premisses retain to and reimburse themselves and himself all Costs Charges Damages and Expences that they respectively shall or may sustain or be put unto in or about the Execution of the Trusts hereby in them reposed
And that they or any or either of them shall not be answerable for or liable to make good any Loss that may happen to or in the said Trust Money Stocks Funds or Securities or for any defficiency (sic) theref or any part thereof except by their Wilful Neglects or defaults or one for the other but each for his own acts Receipts and Payments only
and Lastly I do hereby revoke and make void all former and other Wills by me at any time heretofore
made and declare this only to be my last Will and Testament
In Witness whereof I the said Ann Beak the Testatrix have to this my last Will and Testament contained in two Sheets of Paper to the
first Sheet thereof set my hand and to this second and last sheet thereof my hand and seal the Tenth day of
October in the sixteenth year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord George the Third by the Grace of
God King of Great Britain France and Ireland Defender of the Faith etc. and in the year of our Lord
one thousand seven hundred and seventy six

Codicil
Whereas I Ann Beak of Perry Street in the County of Kent Widow duly made and Executed my last
Will and Testament in Writing bearing date the day next before the day of the date hereof and thereby
(amongst other bequest(s)) gave and bequeathed the several Sums of Six hundred Pounds four per
Cent Bank Annuities and three hundred pounds three and a half per Cent Bank Annuities unto
Andrew Becket and John Allen particularly named their Executors Administrators and Assigns In
Trust (after some other Trusts therein mentioned) to pay unto or otherwise empower and permit my
Daughter Ann Johnson to receive and take the yearly Interest Dividends and Annual Produce
thereof (except as is therein excepted) for her life or so long as she shall continue a Widow
and from and immediately after the Decease or Marriage of my said Daughter then I did thereby (amongst other things) give and bequeath the said two several Sums of Six hundred Pounds four per Cent Bank Annuities and three hundred pounds three and a half per Cent Bank Annuities unto my Grandaughter Ann Johnson the Daughter of my said Daughter her Executors Administrators and Assigns for ever as Relation to the said Will had may now fully and at large appear
Now I the said Ann Beak do by this present Writing annexed to my said Will (which I do declare to be a Codicil thereunto and direct the same to be taken as part thereof) revoke and make void the bequest in and by my said Will of the said two several Sums of Six hundred Pounds four per Cent Bank Annuities and three hundred pounds three and a half per Cent Bank Annuities unto my Grandaughter Ann Johnson her Executors Administrators and Assigns to all Interests and purposes whatsoever and as fully and effectually as if such bequest had not been thereby made to her and them
And I do hereby give unto them the said Andrew Becket and John Allen the said two several Sums of Six hundred Pounds four per Cent Bank Annuities and three hundred pounds three and a half per Cent Bank Annuities To hold the same and every part thereof unto them the said Andrew Becket and John Allen their Executors Administrators and Assigns But nevertheless Upon the Trusts hereinafter mentioned and declared of and concerning the same (that is to say)
Upon Trust that they the said Andrew Becket and John Allen shall and do from and after the decease or Marriage of my said Daughter pay unto or otherwise empower and permit my Grandaughter Ann Johnson and her Assigns to receive and take the Yearly Interest Dividends and Annual Produce of the said two several Sums of Six hundred Pounds four per Cent Bank Annuities and three hundred pounds three and a half per Cent Bank Annuities for and during the Term of her natural Life and from and immediately after her decease
then I do hereby give and bequeath the said two several Sums of Six hundred Pounds four per Cent Bank Annuities and three hundred pounds three and a half per Cent Bank Annuities and every part and parcel thereof unto and equally between all and every the Child and Children of my said Grandaughter Ann Johnson Daughters as well as Sons Share and Share alike and I do hereby ratify and confirm my said Will and all the Gifts devices bequests matters and things therein contained and not hereby altered or revoked
In Witness whereof I the said Ann Beak have to this Codicil annexed to my Will and contained in two
Sheets of Paper to the first Sheet thereof set my hand and to this last Sheet thereof set my hand and
Seal the eleventh day of October in the Year of our Lord Christ one thousand seven hundred and seventy six

This will was Proved at London with a Codicil the third day of June in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and eighty six before the Worshipful Thomas Bever? Doctor of Laws Surrogate of the Right Worshipful Peter Calvert Doctor of Laws Master Keeper or Commissary of the Prerogative Court of Canterbury lawfully constituted by the Oath of Andrew Beckett one of the Executors named in the said Will to whom Administration was granted of all and singular the Goods Chattels and Credits of the said deceased he having been first sworn duly to administer Power reserved of making the like grant to John Allen the other Executor named in the said Will when he shall apply for the same.
Deposition
On the 17th day of December 1813 Admon. (with the Will annexed) of the Goods
Chattels and Credits of Ann Beck otherwise Beak late of the Parish of Northfleet in the County of
Kent Widow dec’d left uned. [unadministered] by Andrew Beckett decd. whilst living one of
the Exors and one of the Residual Legatees In Trust named in the said Will was granted to
Ann Chittenden Widow formerly Johnson the Granddaughter and the Universal Legatee
substituted in the said Will having been first sworn by Coms. [Commission] duly to admr [administer]
John Allen the other Exor. and other Universal Legatee In Trust died without having taken upon
himself the Probate and Execution of the sd. Will – the said Andrew Becket died Intestate and
Ann Johnson Widow the Daur. [Daughter] and the Residuary Legatee for Life died without taking Admon.
