In the name of God Amen I Abraham Bensted of the parish of Newington Bricklayer being weak in body but of sound and perfect mind do make this my last will and testament in manner following. Imprimis I recommend my soul into the hands of God that gave it and my body to be buried at the discretion of my Executrix hereinafter named and as for such real and personal Estate as it has pleased the Almighty to bless me with I dispose of in manner as follows that is to say

I give my house and land in Newington to my loving wife Mary during the term of her natural life
and after her decease I give the said house and land to my daughter Elizabeth to her and her heirs for ever
and if the said Elizabeth should die without issue then my will is that the said house and land shall go to my Daughter Mary and her heirs forever and so to the next Eldest Daughter surviving in case the others die without issue

and as to my personal estate I give the same unto my loving wife Mary
and as to each of my Daughters except my eldest Daughter Elizabeth my will is that my Executrix shall pay them the sum of eight pounds a peece,

Item as to my other houses and Land situate and being in the parishes of Upchurch and Halston I give bequeath the same unto my loving son Abraham and his heirs forever.

And as to the time of paying the said sum of twenty four pounds which I give to each of my Daughters to be divided equally amongst them share and share alike my will is that my Executrix shall pay the same as each of them shall come to the age of twenty one years

and lastly I appoint my said loving Wife the Executrix of this my last will and Testament hereby revoking all former wills by me at any made and declare this to be my Last will

in witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this twenty seventh of September in the year of our Lord God one thousand Seven Hundred and Seventeen
Abraham Bensted his mark in the presence of us who here witness the said testators setting his hand and seal and declaring this to be his last will and Testament John Burman Henry Merser Robert Johnson.
