Extract of Will of Vincent Billingherst

of Thanet St John, Kent

I give to Judith my wife the one halfe of my hasting reafe in the loft and 2 bussells and halfe of wheat and X pounds in money And the use of one ioined bed stedle and bolster=bed one boalster and pillowe with curtaines on which bed I now lye during her life not removing the same and the use of one great chest in like manner I the same chamber not removing it in like manner and the use of 2 tables and one cupboard in the new hall and parlour with household stuffe my meaning is that my wife Judith shall use during her natural life and then to leave the same to my sonne Zacharie and I doe give her more one quarter of barley

Item I give to Alexander Fleet his 3 children Thomas when 21 , Marie & Elizabeth when 18 or day of marriage, 40s each
and I give Elizabeth Fleet X pounds to be paid within on month after my decease
And I give to Margerie Baxter on paire of sheets of second sort
And I give to evry househoulder of the poore inhabitants in the street of Garlinge to evry of them xij d

All the residue of my good and chattels (my debts paid) and my fines all discharged I give and bequeath to Zacharie Billingherst my sonne whom I doe make sole executor of this My last will and testament
wherein my meaning is That my wife Judith shall l have the occupacon of Such househould stuffe which she brought during her Life.

This is the last will of me the said Vincent Billingherst / touching all my lande and Tenements in the parish aforesaid

First my will Is that Judith Billingherst my wife shall accordinge to my obligacon to her use made before our Marriage have and enjoy during her natural life My new hall and parlour and the 2 chambers Over the same and all my inclosed ground and Such other things which are mentioned in the Same in good repacons and not making ?r? or wast

And my will is that my wife shall have the use of fower score pounds or profitts thereof during her life quarterly to be paid provided that none of those summes of money payable to her grand children and mentioned in on bond to that purpose made before our marriage be paid till after her decease

And I doe give unto Zacharie Billingherst my sonne my tenement and all My lands with appurts, in the county of Kent To hold to him and to his heires forever
provided That my said sonne Zacharie his Heyres or assignes do paie to Vincent Billingherst the sonne of Robert Billingherst deceased XX pounds at his age of xxj years
And ten pounds to Anne Billingherst the daughter of the said Robert
and ten pounds to Mary Billngherst daughter of my said sonne Zacherie at their several ages of xxj:ty years

And my meaning is that if Zachary my sonne depart this natural life having only Yssew Mary his now daughter then the porcon of Vincent the sonne of Robert Billingherst is to be XX:ld more and the porcons of the said Anne and Mary to be five pounds more to either of them paiable As beforesaid:
