In the name of God Amen the 28 day of March 1640 & syxtenth yeare of of the Raigne of our most Gracious Soveraigne Lord Charles by the grace of God of England France and Ireland King defender of the faith etc.
I John Birch of Eythorn in the Countie of Kent, Yeoman being in good helth & peirfit memory (praise be God) do make & ordain this my last will & Testament in maner and forme folowing
First I comend my Soull into the handes of Allmighty God my maker & redeemer by his merits and mercies I hop(e) & stedfastely beleeve after this lif(e) ended to enioye everlasting lif & my body to the earth to be desently buryed at the discrecion of my executour heereafter named;

Item I will and give to Richard Birch my Sonn on(e) shilinge
Item I will and give to Wiliam Birch my Sonn forty shilinges
Item I will and give to Thomas Birch my Sonn forty shilinges
Item I give to Jan Spicer my dafter [daughter] the wife of John Spicer on(e) shilinge
Item I give to my dafter Elizabeth Baker the wife of Edward Baker on shilinge
Item I give to Ann Larence the wife of Richard Larence on shiling

Item I give to my dafter Marye Birch all my linen pewter and bras(s) being in my hous(e) or els(e) wheresoever
Also I give to my said dafter Mary Birch tenn poundes of Corent [current] monie of England to be paid to my said dafter Mary within on(e) yeare next after my deseac(e)

& I do nominate and apoint John Birch my Sonn Soll executor of this my last will & testament and also I give to my said executor all my goodes Chattells & cattell & housewell stuffe unbequeithed paing my debtes & legaces and funerall expences
& I do nominate & apoint Thomas Birch my Sonn overseer of this my Will

In Witnes that this is my last will & Testament I the said John Birch have heerunto put my seall subscribed my mark and published the sam(e)

Edward Baker of Bar[h]am & Elizabeth Burch of Eythorne were married at Eythorne 4 November 1619.
Richard Larence of Barham & Anne Byrch of this parish Oct : 2 1631 at Eythorne.
