Will of Henry Birch

of Godmersham, Kent

Item I give and bequeath unto my sister Ann the wife of John Acres of Faversham husbandman the sum of fifteen pound of good and lawfull money of Great Britain

Item I give and bequeath unto brother Thomas Birch the sum of fifteen pound of the lawfull money
Item I give and bequeath unto my father Henry Birch and my sister[s] Jane Susan and Elizabeth Birch the sum of five pound a piece of like lawfull money of Great Britain

Item all the residue and remainder of my money goods chattles wearing apparell linnen and Estate whatsoever and wheresoever and of what nature or kind so ever which shall or may be and remain after payment of all my just debts legacies and funeral expences and the charge of probate of this my last Will and Testament and other incident charges I give and bequeath unto my said brother and sister Thomas Birch and Ann the wife of the said John Acres equally to be divided between them

and I do hereby constitute and appoint my said brother Thomas and sister Ann the wife of the said John Acres Executor and Executrix of this my last Will and Testament and do revoke all other Wills by me made

In Witness whereof I the said Henry Birch the Testator have hereunto set and affixt my hand and seal this fourteenth day of December in the fourteenth year of the Reign of King George the second and in the year of our Lord 1740 � Henry Birch his mark � Signed sealed published and declared by the said Testator Henry Birch as and for his last Will and Testament in the presents of us who at his request have hereunto subscribed our names as witnesses in the presents of the said Testator

The above registered Will of Henry Birch deceased was proved the 26th day of December 1740 before the Reverend James Henstridge Clerk lawfull Surogate to the Worshipfull George Lee Doctor of Laws Official General to the Reverend the Archdeacon of Canterbury lawfully constituted by the oath of Thomas Birch brother of the deceased and Executor herein named to whom administration of the goods chattles and credits of the said deceased was committed he being first sworn well and truly to perform the same.
