In the name of God Amen The sixteenth day of December Anno dini 1661
I Stephen Bishop of Margate in the parish of S. John the Baptist in the Isle of Thannet in the County of Kent Mariner being very sicke and weake in body but of sound and p[er]fect remembrance, praised be God therefore doe make and ordeine this my p[re]sent testament conteyning therein my last will and testament in manner & forme following
First and principally I comend my soule unto Allmighty God my maker, trusting through the meritts of Jesus Christ the saviour & redeemer that hee will recomend it into his heavenly mansions dwell with him for ever And my body I comitt to the Earth whereof it was made decently to be buried att the discretion of my Executrix hereafter named And for all my worldly goods wherew[i]th it hath pleased the Lord to blesse me for my more comfortable passage through this my pilgrimage

Item I give and bequeath as follows (That is to say) after all my just debts shall be paid & my funds & all expences discharged
I give and bequeath unto Grace my loving wife all my estate as well reall as personall, Plate, brasse, pewter, bedstedds, bedding, household stuffe, utensills & implem[en]ts of howsehold whatsoever & all and every my partes of vessells whatsoever & wheresoever & allso all my debt, shopware, bookes and accompts and all & every other my goods and estate
To be had and hold unto the said Grace my loving wife for and during her naturall life and to be disposed of by her att her death amongst my children according to her discretion as shee shall find them obedient unto her

And I doe hereby make & ordeine the said Grace my wife sole Executrix of this my last will and testament And I doe utterly revoke and disanull all former wills, legacies and bequests whatsoever before att any time by mee made & given

And I declare this to be my last will and testament
