John Bix the elder of St Mildred’s within the Citty of Canterbury, will dated 3 Oct 1640
20 shillings to the poor of St Mildred’s
10 shillings to Mother Woodman

To eldest son John Bix, all such goods and household stuffe as I left at Bapchild Court at my goeinge to Canterbury to dwell, as by a particular appears exceptinge that in my two younger sonnes howses, Ady and James, and the wood, timber and other materials and goods in my store howse at Bapchild streete with nyne longe elme bourds in the barne

Item I give unto this John Bix my Sonne the Sisterne and leade to it in the kitchen at Canterbury which I bought of Mr Sumner, the dresser, bench and all the shelves in the same and all the shelves aboute the howse (exceptinge those in my sonne Ady Bix his study), the queren to grinde mault and the copper and furnasse to brew withal, with the iron forke to the same and all the glasse, portals, waynscots belonging to the same howse and all the lockes and keyes to the doores in and aboute the howse, alsoe the great wainscot presse in the street chamber that was my Fathers with two lockes and keyes,
conditionally I give John Bix these thinges that hee shall be lovinge and kinde unto Ady and James Bix my two younger Sonnes and suffer my Sonne Ady to enjoye a guilts spoone and a guilt trenchersalt that were given formerly to John Bix, and to suffer Ady to have roome in his howse at Canterbury for his goods until hee can provide elsewhere to bestow them.

Item I give to David Bix my Sonne £10 in money and my silver beaker, to be paide him within six monthes after hee comes home from Barbados.
Item I give William and Thomas Tomlyn my daughters Sonnes 20 shillings a peece.

Item I give unto James Bix my youngest Sonne £50 to bee paide him within six months after hee comes home from India.
Alsoe I give him the bedstedle in the hall chamber with the curtens, valance and curten rods, the feather bed, bowlsters and two pillows there and pillowbeeres to them, the blankets and coverlet with two payres of sheetes, a dozen of napkins and a dozen of towels, the wainscot chest to lay his clothes in with locke key and the truncke of lynnen and plate his mother provided for him before her death, and the great high cubbord in the hall.

Item I give to Katherin Bix my Brothers daughter and now Mr Elkingtons wife, the mother of pearle dish and cupp which my Sonne James Bix brought mee out East India.
Item I give unto Katherin Bix my eldest Sonnes daughter a gimball ringe of gould that was my wives in three partes, a silver thimble and a silver boodkin.

Item I give unto Ady Bix my eldest Sonne by my last wife, and to his heires and assignes foreer, all my lands and tenements lying and being in the parish of Hearehill (Hernhill?) in the County of Kent and now in the occupation of Matthew Ambrose, commonly called little Crockhorne and great Crockhorne, with the barne, stables, outhowses and three wood leeses thereunto belonging,

and all the rest of my goods and chattels, howsehouldstuffe, money, plate and debts whatsoever not given or bequeathed, I give and bequeath unto Ady Bix my Sonne whom I make my sole executor of this my last will, hee payinge my debts and legasies and performing this my will in every point
