In the name of God Amen the third day of July in the yeare of the Reigne of o[u]r Sovereigne Lord Charles by the grace of God of England Scotland France & Ireland Kinge defender of ye fayth, &c., the first and in the yeare of or Lord God one thowsand sixe Hundred twenty five
I Edward Boys of the p[ar]ishe of Barfreston alias Barston in the County of Kent, Gent(leman) beinge weake in body but of good and perfect memorie (thankes bee unto God) doe make this my last will and testament in manner and forme followeinge
First I commend my speritt into the hands of God through Christ my saviour, and my body to bee buried in the Chancell of the pishe Church of Barfreston aforesayd

Item I give unto the poore of the pishe of Barfreston tenn shillings to bee paid and distributed amongst them by myne Executor upon the day of my funerall

Item I will that Katherine Boys my deare wife have and enjoy all such goods againe as were her one and w[hi]ch shee brought w[i]th her at the tyme of or marriage wch are in her keepinge and whereof the property is not yett altered

Item I will that w[i]thin one quarter of a yeare after my decease, all my Corne, Cattell, househould stuffe, plate and whatsoever other moveable goods I have bee by myne Executor to the best worth, Valew and advantage sold, and beinge soe sold, ye moneyes arrisinge thence (my debtes and legacies payd) I will to bee devided payd and given unto my three daughters Elizabeth Boys, Anne Boys and Jane Boys by even and equall portions, either at the day of their severall marriages or at the age of eighteene yares, wch shall first happen

And in the meane tyme I will that myne Executor have and ymploy all the sayd moneys to the best advantage for the educacon and bringinge upp of my sayd three daughters and yf yt should soe fall out that any of my three daughters dep[ar]te this life before they bee married or come to the ful age of eighteene yeares, then my will is that the poircon or porcons of her or them soe deceasd remaine to and bee equally devided betweene her or them wch shalbee survivinge;
but yf they should all depte this life (wch God forbid) before they bee married or accomplishe the full age of eighteene yeares then I will that my sonne Edward Boyse have all and every of the sayd porcons wch they, yf they had lived, should have had

And as concerninge my lands, I give unto my sonne Edward Boys all my houses and lands wth their appurtenances wch I have in the pishe of Dimchurch [Dymchurch] in the County of Kent, In the pishe of Wye, or elsewheresoever or whatsoever to him and his heires for ever

Item I will that the sayd Edward Boys my sonne be my sole executor for the fulfillinge of this my last will & testament accordinge to the true meaninge thereof
Last of all I appoynt and intreate Doctor Boys, Deane of Canterbury, Thomas Boys and William Boys my deere and kind brothers to bee overseers of this my last will for the more due and better p[er]formance thereof, unto either of whom in token of my best love I will and bequeath twenty shillings apeece of good English mony to make either of them a ring and to bee payd unto them ymediately after my decease

In Witnes whereof that this is my true and last will and that thereby I revoke all former wills whatsoever I have put unto this pr[e]sent and last will setto my hand and seale

Notes:
12th July 1625 Edward Boys, Gent. was buried in the Chancel of St. Nicholas, Barfreston.
Edward Boys, Gentleman of Barfrestone married Catherine Hudson, Widow of Lenham on 13th April 1616 at All Saints, Hollingbourne, Kent, by Licence. Robert Ewell, the Rector of Barfreston was the bondsman.
