In the name of God Amen the sixth day of May in the three and thirtieth yeare of the raigne of our Soveraigne Lord Charles the Second, by the grace of God of England, Scotland, France and Ireland, King, defender of the faith etc. Anno dini one thousand six hundred and eighty one
I Nicholas Brett of the parish of Deale in the County of Kent, Chirurgeon being sicke and weake in body, but of sound and perfect minde and memory (thankes be given to Allmighty God for the same), doe make and declare this my Last will and Testament as touching the disposicon of that worldly estate who with it hath pleased Allmighty God to blesse me as followeth

Inprimis I make and ordaine Elizabeth my loving wife sole Executrix of this my Last will and Testament
And I give unto her after my debts justly due and owing, funerall charges and probate of this my will are first paid and deducted, one moyety or halfe part of all my personall Estate, whether in money or other goods, Chattells or credits whatsoever, and the other moyety or halfe part thereof to my Children, equally to be divided between them

Item my will and meaning further is, that if my p[er]sonall estate shall fall short of paying my debts, That then all my reall estate in the parishes of Ripple and great Mongeham or else where in the County of Kent shall be sold for the payment thereof, and to capacitate my said wife to bring up my children
And I do will and give the same to my said wife and Executrix to sell and dispose of accordingly, willing and meaning that the overplus of the money ariseing by such sale, after my debts etc. as before shall be discharged, shall be divided, vizt. one halfe to my wife and the other halfe to my children

Sealed, published and declared by the said Nicholas Brett to be his last will and Testament in the pr[e]sence of
Tho: Gardner, Sarah Raighner wid., her marke, Sarah Muson, Mary Stupple her marke, Val: Norwood
