In the name of God Amen the xjth day of Maye Anno dini [1552] And in the sixte yere of the Raigne of or Sovreign Lorde Edwarde the sixte by the grace of God King of Ingland Fraunce & Ireland, defendr of the faithe And of the Churche the Supreme Hedd
I John Brickenden of the p[ar]ishe of Biddenden being of pfect remembrannce (thanked be allmighty God)
Firste I comend my soule to allmighty God my Savior & my Redemr [Redeemer] and my Bodye Unto the earthe to be buried where it shall please God

Item I will to be bestowed at my coste Burying daye one Busshell of flower to be made in Bredde And also to fynde drynk accordingly
Item I give unto Mildredd Brickynden my doughtr iijli vjs viijd [£3 6s 8d] to be payd at the yeres ende into thands of Richard Hamond to the use of the forseid Myldred next after my deceasse by my Executrix or her assignes to be paid

P[ro]vyded allways that yf it shall happen my said Wyffe to marye wthin the said yere then I do Ordeyn and make myne Executrixe Then I will that Richarde Hamonde shall have authoryte by this my Laste will to call owt of her hands the forsaid a iijli vjs viijd unto the use of Myldred Brickenden my doughtr & to be suche ordre wth the same accordingly to the Lawe to the Best p[ro]ffett & comodyte of the same Mildred till she come to thage of xxo yeres And at her age of xxtie yeres or at the day of her maryage yf she mary before That then the same Richarde Hamonde his executors or assignes to be Cowntable [Accountable] unto the same Mildred Brickenden or to her assignes of the forsaid fyve mrks & of the pffetts thereof then to be dew

Item I give unto the said Mildred one of my Best beldletts?
Further yf it shall happen the said Mildred Bryckenden to die wthin thage of xxti yeres and wtout heires of her bodie Then I will it shall remayn to her Sister Margarett and to her heirs for evr

Item Further I give & Bequethe unto Margaret Brickenden my doughter a iijli vjs viijd at her age of xxti yeres or at the daye of her mariage yf she do marye before to be paid by myn Executrix or her assignes And yf it shall happen the said Margarett to die wthin that age and unmaryed Then I will the said fyve mrks to Mildred her sister

Provyded allways that yf it shall happen my said wyffe to mary or my doughters Come to thage of a xxti yeres & unmaryed also Then I will that he th[a]t shall so mary my said wyf shall putting A Sufficient Bond into thands of Richard Hamond and Richard Hollon for the trew paymt of the same as is aforseid

Item I give also unto the said Margarett my doughtr one pewter platter and a pewter disshe to be delyvred her also at the tyme aforseid by myn Executrix
Provyded agayn that yf my Two doughts afore written do die wthin age and unmaried Then I will yt their p[ar]tes to be equally devyded to the other children of me John Brickenden the whiche then shalbe lyving at their age afors[ai]d appoynted

Item I Bequeth unto Thoms Brickenden, Robte Brickenden and Nathanyll Brickenden my iij sones v marks a pece
And also I give to Amye Bryckenden & to Alis Brickenden my doughts V marks a pece also
to be paid bothe to my sones & doughts in suche ordre as hereaftr folowys, that is to sey
I will that Joane my Wif her executors & assignes shall paye to evry one of my iij sones afore written v marks a peece at thage of xxti yeres And if any of theym die before the age of xxti yeres the one to be the others heires
And also where I have appoynted to Amye Brickenden & to Alys Brickenden my twoo doughts v marks a pece I will that it shalbe paide unto either of theym or to their assignes at the age of xxti yeres or els at the daye of their sevrall mariags yf they mary before

Povyded allways yt if it shall happen Joane my wif to mary and any of my v children tht is Thoms Brickenden, Robte Brickenden, Nathanyell Brickenden, Aime Brickenden and Alys Brickenden to be undrage or all to be undrage That then I will that he tht shall happen to marye wth her shall put in a sufficyent Bonde into thands of Rycharde Hamond and Richarde Hollon be the same paymt of the forsayd money before Bestowed to eyche of my fyve chyldren att their age aforsaid

Item I gyve unto Vyncent Bresynden my s[er]vaunt a xxs to be paide to hym
Item I give and Bequethe to Richarde Strannton a xiijs iiijd [13s 4d] to be paid to hym or his assignes & one doublett
Item I Bequethe to Anne Owen a vjs viijd [6s 8d] to be paid to her or to her assignes
Item I Bequethe to evry one of my god children a xijd a pece

The Residew of all my moveable goods & my debts and my Bequethes paid I give and Bequethe unto Joane my wyffe whome I doe ordeyn to be my sole Executrix

Willm Lagrynden; John Jurden and Richard Hollen wth others

Notes:
John Bryckynden, Howshoulder was buried at All Saints, Biddenden on 13th May 1552.
John Brickenden married Joan Hunt 11th August 1539 at Biddenden.
Daughter Amye was baptised 31 May 1540 at Biddenden, and daughter Alice on 24 Dec 1544 at St. Mildred, Tenterden.
