And after my wife’s death I do hereby will and bequeath to my son Thomas Briggs the cottage and forge adjoining situate on the Bexley Heath on the frontage of the freehold property mentioned above provided he shall bring up and provide for my youngest daughter Eliza aforesaid until she is married or better provided for
And I further will and bequeath to Jane Kirby my daughter one of the cottages situate at
the back of the said forge for her to have possession of the same immediately after my
wife’s death
Ane I further will and bequeath the other cottage situate adjoining the last mentioned
cottage at the back of the aforesaid forge & cottage to my youngest daughter Eliza Briggs
for her to have possession of the same immediately after my wife’s death
And I appoint my wife Philis as Executrix and after her death I appoint my son Tho’s
Briggs and my son in law George Kirby to see that the above freehold is devised as I
above direct
And I further will that all my household furniture and other effects that shall be left after
my wife’s death shall be equally divided between my three children Thos Briggs Jane
Kirby and Eliza Briggs

In the Prerogative Court of Canterbury in the Goods of Thomas Briggs deceased
Appeared Personally Edmond Davids Of No. 8 Dean Street Commercial Road East in the
County of Middlesex Licensed Victualler and made oath that he is one of the subscribed
witnesses to the last Will and Testament of Thomas Briggs late of Bexley Heath in the
County of Kent Blacksmith deceased being now hereunto annexed and bearing date the
twenty second day of January one thousand eight hundred and fifty two
And he further made oath that the said deceased only executed the said will on the day of
the date thereof by signing his name at the foot or end thereof in the presence of this
deponent and of William Andrews the other subscribed witness thereto both being
present at the same time and that thereupon this deponent subscribed his name to and the
said William Andrews made his mark to the said Will in the presence of the said
deceased and of each other

On the 21st day of September 1854 the said Edmond Davids was duly sworn to the truth
of this affidavit before me J G Middleton Surr. P’d? K H Deacon Not’y Pub’k
Proved at London 27th Sept’r 1854 before the Worshipful John George Middleton Doctor of Laws and Surrogate by the oath of Phillis (in the will written Philis) Briggs widow the Relict the sole Executrix to whom admon was granted having been first sworn duly to adm’r
