In the name of God Amen The xiiijth day of Januarye Anno 1584 [1584/5] and of the Raigne of o[u]r Sovraigne Ladye Elizabethe by the grace of God Quene of England France and Ireland, defender of the faithe &c. the pprnts?
I Bettrice Brockman widowe of the towne and porte of Dovor in the countye of Kent being sicke of bodye but of perfect remembrannce do make and ordayne this my last will and testament in maner and forme following
Fyrst I bequeathe my soule in the handes of God my creator hoping only to be saved through the deathe and passion of Christ Jesus my only Saviour and redemer And my bodye to be buryed in the Churchyard of Saint Maryes in Dovor aforesaid

Item I geve and bequeath to John Brockman my sonne my bede whereon I lye wth all the appurtenannces as it standethe Also one cubbard standing in the haull and one table & one forme standing in the haull more to hym two paire of sheetes

Item I geve and bequeathe to Richard Brockman my sonne two paire of sheetes and my greate brasse pott and one cowe after the decease of Joane Godden of Folkestone my Sister

Item I geve to my daughter Margaret Browne thre(e) pounds of laufull Englishe mony to be payd wthin two yeres after my decease and one bede as it standeth in the chamber two payre of sheetes of the best & one christening sheettes and one greate kettell and all my apparell both lynnen & wollen excepte my seconde gowne wch I geve to Joane Curtes my mayd Also I geve to my said daughter Margaret one cowe

Item I gever to Emanuell and Thomas Browne my sayd daughters children twentie shillings a pece to be payd in two yeres after my decease
Item the residue of my moveable & housholde stuffe not fore specified nor bequeathed I will & bequeathe indifferently to be parted and devyded betwene John & Richard my sonnes & Margaret my daughter by equall portions

item I will that Richard Godden my Cosen shall have tenne poundes for two yeres paying twenty shillings a yeare for it
Item the Residue of my mony and debtes unbequeathed I geve to John my sonne whome I make & ordayne the sole executor of this my last will & testament
