In The Name of God Amen the fifteenth daye of Maye in the twoe and thirty Yeare of the Raigne of our Sovraigne Lady Elizabeth by the grace of God Quene of England France and Ireland, Defender of the faith &c. [1590]
I Richarde Brooke of the parish of Woodnesborough in the Countye of Kent being sick of body but p[er]fect and whole of remembrance (thanks be given to Almightye God), doe ordayne and make this my present last will and testament in manner and forme followinge,
First I bequeath my soule to Almightye God, my body to the earth at earth? the same to be buryed, in the Churchyarde of Woodnesboroughe aforesayde

Item I give and bequeath unto the poore of the parish the fyne p[ar]ish of Woodnesborowe the some of twentie shillings of good and lawfull money of Englande, to be payde unto them within one moneth next after my decease, to (be) devyded among them at the discrecon of my executor
Item I will that all my moveable goodes, within the parish of Woodnesborough and Ashe or ells where that an Inventorye be made thereof, and to be solde at the discrecon of my sayd executor
Item I will that my debts and legacyes to be payd out of the sayd moveable goodes and other ordynarye Chardges

Item I will that the resydue of my goodes to be put in money and devyded betwene fower of my brothers children, that is to saye,
Robte. Brooke sonne of Thomas Brooke of Woodnesboroughe late deceased; and Johan Brooke, daughter of the sayd Thomas Brooke;
and Johan Brooke and Ellin Brooke daughters of Henry Brooke my elder Brother
;
and the sayd resydue of money to be payde unto Robert Brooke, Johan Brooke, Ellin Brooke and Johan, to be payd unto them as they come to age, or be at thage of one and twentye yeares, and for them that be of age alreadye, to be payde unto them within one whole yeare next after my decease

Item I will that forty shillings be given unto my Brother John Brookes children yf my executor see it nedefull or at his discrecon

Item I request that John Wylde of Woodnesborough be whole executor of this my last will and testam[en]t.

This is the last will and testamt. of me Richard Brooke, whereunto I have set my hand and seale the daye and yeare first above written

Probatum fuit: 13th January 1590/91

Note: Richard Brooke was buried at St. Mary the Virgin, Woodnesborough on 18th May 1590.
