In the Name of God Amen I Nicholas Brooke of the Parish of Lympne otherwise Lyme in the County of Kent Blacksmith being infirm [of] Body but of sound and perfect Mind and Memory (Praised be Almighty God for the same) Do make and ordain my last Will and Testament in manner following
First and Principally I most humbly recommend my Soul to the Mercy of Almighty God my Creator hoping thro’ the Merits of Jesus Christ my Saviour to have full and free Pardon of all my Sins and to inherit eternal Life And my Body I will to be decently interred with Christian Burial at the Discretion of my Executors hereinafter named And as to my worldly Estate wherewith it hath pleased God to bless me I dispose of the same as followeth (that is to say)

I give and bequeath All those my Free full Third Parts (the whole in Three equal Parts to be divided) of and in All that One Messuage or Tenement One Barn One Shop or Smiths Forge One Close Two Gardens One Orchard One Hempspot One Piece of Parcel of Land to the said Messuage or Tenement belonging containing by Estimation Two Acres more or less with their Appurtenances situate lying and being in Kenington [Kennington, near Ashford] in the said County at or near a certain Place there called Kenington Leez [Lees] and late in the Tenure or Occupation of George Brooke for my late Brother or his Assigns
And all other Estate Right Title and Interest therein unto my Two Sons in Law Silas Corvell and John Corvell [or Corwell] their Heirs and Assigns for ever to be by them or the Survivor of them or the Heirs and Assigns of such Survivor sold as soon after my Decease as conveniently may be And the moneys to be raised by such Sale thereof I will shall be forthwith applyed towards the Payment of my just Debts and Funeral Expences

Item I give and devise all my Goods Chattels and personal Estate whatsoever and wheresoever unto my said Two Sons in Law Silas Corvell and John Corvell [or Corwell] their Executors Administrators and Assigns foever they paying out thereof the full and remainder of all my just Debts and Funeral Expences

Item I do hereby make and ordain them my said Two Sons in Law Silas Corvell and John Corvell [or Corwell] joint Executors of this my last Will and Testament
And hereby revoking all former and other Wills by me heretofore made to this my present last Will and Testament contained in this One Sheet of Paper I have set my Hand and Seal Dated this Fourth day of December in the Fifteenth Year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord George the Second by the Grace of God King of Great Britain France and Ireland Defender of the Faith and so forth And in the Year of our Lord One Thousand Seven Hundred and Forty One.

Note: Nicholas Brooke was buried at Lympne on 12th October 1745.
