In the name of God Amen The xvijti [17th] daye of Octobre in the xxxvijti yeare of the Reigne of our Sovraigne Lord Henry th'eight by the grace of God of Ingland France and Ireland, kinge, defendor of the faithe and in erthe under God of the church of England and also of Irland the Supreme He[a]d [1545]
I Rychard Buttlar of the paryshe of Sainte Maryes wtin [within] the towne and porte of Sandwch in the conty of Kente .......... sicke in body but (lauded be God) of right good p[er]fete memory make this my pr[ese]nte testament herin conteyninge my laste will in maner and forme folowing
Fyrste and pryncypally I gyve and bequethe my saule unto the marcyfull hands of God the father the sonne and the holly goste thre(e) distincte p[er]sons and one God whiche I faythfully beleve and with my mothe? confesse trusting only that in and by the merrytts and passion of my savior Jhu xrist Jesus Christ] my redemor to have clere and fre(e) forgivenesse and remyssyon of all my synnes And my body to be buryed in the paryshe churche of Sainte Peter (Sandwich) where my Ancestors doo lye

I gyve and bequethe unto evry one of my daughters x pounds to be payed unto them at the daye of their maryages by myne executrix
The Reste of all my goods my detts payed I wholy gyve and bequethe unto Phillip my wif whome I make my sole executrix in thexecution of this my pnte testamente and laste will
And I give her my howse wherein I dwell for terme of her lyf, keping due Reparacons and the garden which I occupye

Thys us the Laste Wyll of me the aforesayd Rychard Buttlar made the daye and yeare above written

First I will that Philllip my wif shall have all my Lands and temnts [tenements] wtin the towne and porte of Sandwch and in the paryshe of Ashe, Woodnesborough, E[a]stry and Worthe next Sandwiche or els where wtin the contye of Kente untyll suche tyme that Henry my sonne comythe to thage of xxijti [22] yeares for to paye unto my forenamyd daughters a xxxti whiche is xti [10] pounds apece
And yf my sayde (as written) cannot by theis tyme have of my said lands the sayde xxxti [£30], then I will she shall have pongton? untyll she have receyveid the same money

Item I will that where as I made my wyf a Joyntor [Jointure] in Hackleing in the pishe of Worthe next Sandwiche that the same shalbe voyde
And I will she shall have for the same my ferme [farm] callyd Harnden duringe her lyf in the paryshe of Estry wythout any cause? of lett or Intteruption of Henry my fornamyd sonne and heire, kepinge duie Reparacons thereon as app[er]teynithe which I dowt not but she will

Rychard Butler was buried at St. Mary the Virgin, Sandwich, Kent on 19 Oct 1545 (not in St. Peter's, Sandwich as per his Will).
Wife Phillip Butlar was buried at St. Mary's on 22 Jul 1547.
