In the name of God Amen I Stephen Carlton of the p[ar]ishe of Ashe next Sandw[i]ch Husbandman, beinge sicke in body and (of) perfect memory (thankes bee to God)
First I will and bequeath my soule unto Almighty God my Creator and my body to the Earth

I will and bequeath unto John Stookes my norms? sonne five pound w[i]thin one whole yeare next after my decease
I will and bequeath unto Henry Stookes of Sandwch Five pound wthin [within] one yeare next after my decease
I will and bequeath unto Nicholas Stookes of Sandwch Five pound wthin one yeare next after my decease
(Conditionally that hee and his brother Henry should either come to mee or my Executor to reccon uppon an equall account for fourteene seames of barley)

I will and bequeath unto my daughter Thacther tenn pounds wthin two yeares next after my decease
I will and bequeath unto my grandchild my daughter Thatches Child two of my best ewes or twenty shillings of money of wch they think most Convenient
I will and bequeath unto my Godchild Stephen Stringer an Ewe

I will and bequeath unto my sonne William & my sonne Stephen to bee my full & sole executors of this my last will & testament
I will and bequeath after they have paye my debtes and legacies, that my Executors shall have equally devided betweene them all my goods and Chattells

I will and bequeath my lease that I have from the Mayor and Commons of the Citty of Canterbury wthout the walles about the dikes from Snt. Georges gate and soe it Conteynes unto the Posterne Bridge leadinge into Christchurchyard, I will and bequeath unto my Executors my Murgages [Mortgages] there wch I had from Mr. Savin by the Consent of Christopher Carlton
I will and bequeath all my leases that I had of Anthony Stookes wth the consent of Sir Robert Lewknor unto my Executors unto the end & terme of the leases

I will and bequeath unto my Executors such recconings that Edward Wood of London owes mee for xxjty [21] stames of manly that wch hee hath given mee three yeares past
I will and bequeath unto Nicholas Stookes that my Executors shall freely deliver unto him my bedd or beddinge that hee shall demaund to bee his one wthout any lett or molestacon
I will and bequeath that Robert Stringer & Thomas Thatther that they would bee Overseers of this my last will and testam[en]t

In witnes whereof I have sett my hand acknowledginge this my last will and testament dated the first day of June 1630

This is my will and testament that if my Executors die wthout heires any of them, the Survivor shalbee heire to the other
if they fortune to dye both wthout heires then I will that my goods or the greatest p[ar]te of them shall descend to my daughter Thacther and to her Children
