I Joseph Carpenter of Crooms Hill Greenwich in the County of Kent do hereby make my last Will and Testament as follows

I give and bequeath unto my dear Wife Maria Carpenter my Property including my stock in trade with all that belongs to or that may be realised by my business with all my household furniture & effects for her sole & absolute use
And I give & bequeath to my dear wife all my undivided interest in the freehold house Crooms Hill Greenwich belonging to & occupied by me for the term of her natural life & afterwards to our issue should any from our marriage

And should no issue result from our marriage I hereby give & bequeath at the death of my beloved wife the freehold house on Crooms Hill aforesaid to be the joint property in equal proportions of my brothers who are now living or their hairs

And I hereby nominate & appoint my brother Samuel Carpenter & the father of my Wife Thomas William Tanner to be the sole Executors of this my Will

In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand this thirty first day of August in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred & forty nine Joseph Carpenter
