In the name of God Amen The nineteenth daie of June in the three and thirtieth yeare of the raigne of our Soveraigne Lady Elizabeth by the grace of God of England Fraunce and Ireland Queene defender of the fayth &c. [1591]
That I Isabell Carter of the parish of Crundall within the Cownty of Kent widowe being sicke in body but of perfect remembrannce do declare and make this my last will and Testament in maner and forme following
First I bequeath my sowle to Almighty God my onely Saviour and redeemer Jesus Christe, by whose death and passion, I onely hope to have everlasting life, and my body to be buried wthin the parish Church yard of Crundall

Item I will and bequeathe unto the poore people of the parish of Crundall the some of twenty shillings to be distributed to them on the day of my buriall
Item I will and give to my daughter in Lawe viz Thomasin? Conorthe? widowe six shillings & eight pence
Item I will and give to Alice Chericke and Susan Cowrte her two daughters to ether of them three pounds six shillings & eight pence to be paid to them or their assignes wthin one quearter of a yeare next after my decease
Item I will and bequeath to my daughter Jone Haslen twenty pounds to be paid to her or her assignes wthin one yeare next after my decease
Item I will and give to every of her five children now living forty shillings to be paid to everye of the(m) within one yeare next after my decease
Item I will and give to every of the five Children of my sonne Matthewe Cornet? forty shillings to be paid to them within one yeare next after my decease

Item I will and give to George Carter of Crundall my sonne in Lawe the sume of twelve pounds to be pd to him or his assignes wthin one monethe next after my decease
Item I will and give to John Carter of Elmstede my sonne in Lawe the sime of five pownde

Item I will and give to John Carter of Crundall my sonne one great chest standing in the parlour next the Chimney Corner, with all the linnen or els whatsoever shalbe found therein at the time of my death, one fethrbed, one flockbed, my best coverlett, two of my best blankets, two of my best pillowes with all other necessaries belonging to a bed, six cushions, all my sheepe and lambes

Item I give unto Thomas Carter of Crundall the elder forty shillings
Item I give to Thomasin Carter my goddaughter forty shillings, two cushions
Item I give to Isabell Rucke of Boughton forty shillings
Item I give to Jane Coveney the elder of Crundall forty shillings
Item I give to Thomas Carter of Crundall the younger twenty shillings

Item I give to George Philpott one payre of good sheets
Item I will and give to Sylvester Williamson one payre of my best sheets, excepting the Cheste already bequeathed
I give to my sonne George Carter all the rest of my Cusions in the howse except before bequeathed
Item I give to Lawrence Smithe twenty shillings, the whiche sume of twenty shillings I will my sonne in Lawe George Carter to bestowe towards a howse for him
Item I give unto my sonne John Carter of Crundall the little cheste that Harding made laste for me, to put and lay his linnen in &c.

This is also the will and Testament of me the said Isabell Carter as concerning my Lands

I will and give them unto John Carter of Crundall my said sonne and to the heires of his body lawfully begotten forever
And for lacke of heires of his body Lawfully begotten Then I will and give all my Landes to Clement Court my godsonne and to his heires for ever, And for lacke of heires lawfully begotten of Clement Court, then I will and bequeath all my Lands in Crundall or els where in the Cownty of Kent to the heires of my sonne Matthewe Court for ever

Wch Matthew Court I ordaine & make my Executor And do bequeath and give unto him all ye Residue of my goods unbequeathed in consideracon that he shall pay and dischardge all the legacies before bequeathed and given

These being witnesses: Reynolde Scrimsbie; Daniell Personne; Ralphe Johnson parson of Crundall

Probatum fuit: 24th July 1591

Note: Isabell Carter was buried 30th June 1591 at St. Mary the Virgin, Crundale, Kent.
