In the name of God Amen the thurtith daie of September 1631 and in the seaventh yeare of the Raigne of our Soveraigne Lord Charles by the grace of God of England Scotland France & Ireland Kinge defender or the faith etc
I Robert Cavell thelder of Stapleherst in the countie of Kent husbandman being at this p�sent sicke in boddie but of good and p�fect remembrance (thanks bee unto th�allmightie god for it) doe make and ordaine this my last will and Testament in manner and forme following
First I commend my soule into the hands of Allmightie god my Creator & unto Jesus Chryst his sonne, my saviour and Redeemer, by whose pretious death and bloud shedding uppon the crosse I trust assuredly that my sinnes are pardoned and that my soule shall have everlasting life amonge the Sainets in heaven and my boddie I committ unto the grave to bee buried in xxian manner according to the discretion of my executor here under named

Item I give unto my sonne William Cavell Fower pounds in readie money, one bedstedd and a bedd with all the furniture thereunto belonging, three paire of Sheetes, the lesser wyned chest & one other little chest two stupnetts and one kettle being the broder of the two bigge kettles, one of the lesser iron potts and all my wearing apparrell my coate excepted and three peeces of Pewter w�ch money and severall parcells of goods I will shalbe paid and delivered unto him ymediately after my wives decease

Item I give and bequeath unto Sara my daughter the wife of Thomas Ducke one kettle w�ch she allreadie hath in her possession, one cupboard w�ch I bought of old Pickenden, one great chest standing in the Parler loft and one little chest, the hinges whereof are broken w�ch said goods shalbe delivered unto her ymediately after my wives decease

Item I give and bequeath unto Robert Cavell my Godsonne one weyned calfe not yet a yeare old which I will shalbe delivered unto him when his Father shall thinke good.

The residue of my goods and chattells ungiven and unbequeathed I give and bequeath unto Robert Cavell my sonne to have and enioy them after my wives decease
which said Robert Cavell my sonne I doe make and appoint the sole Executor of this my last will and Testament
who I hope wilbe carefull to see my wife his Mother well p�vided for during her aged yeares and to succour her what he can in time of her neede

And I make my neighbour and freind John Hernden overseer
In witnes whereof I have hereunto putt my hand and seale the daie and yeare abovesaid

Dorothy Cavill a poor owld woman, widow buried 8 November 1635 at Staplehurst.
Sara Cavell married Thomas Ducke 4th October 1619 St Margaret, Canterbury
