In the Name of God Amen the 6th day of August one thousand seven hundred and ninety I Edward Chauntler of the parish of Goudhurst in the county of Kent farmer being very sick and weak of body but of perfect mind and memory thanks be given unto God therefore calling unto mind the mortality of my body knowing that it is appointed unto all men once to die do make and ordain this my last will and testament that is to say principally and first of all I give *________ my soul into the hands of Almighty God that gave it and my body I *________ to the earth to be buried in Decent Christian Burial at the discretion of my Executors� hereinafter named _______ _____ but at the general (?) resurrection I shall receive (?) the same again by the Almighty power of God and ____ touching such worldly Estate wherewith it hath pleased God to Bless me in this life I give devise and dispose of the same in the following manner and form viz

first my will and desire is that all my just debts and funeral expenses be fully paid by my Executors out of my (Effects, Efforts Estate ?) and soon as is convenient after my demise and also my will and desire is that all the rest and residue of my Estate and Effects to be equally divided between the four following persons share and share alike (viz) Elizabeth the wife of Edward Drury Mary the wife of Humphrey Wickham and Ann the wife of Edward Phillips my three daughters and Edward Chantler my Grandson now an apprentice to Mr William Mynn(?) of Goudhurst

and farther my will and desire is that if my daughter Ann wife of Edward Phillips should happen to die before me that this her part of my Effects shall go to and be equally divided among her children as they come of age But it is not to go to their father But if their father should happen to die before their mother that then said Ann Phillips may receive her share with her sisters(?) and son Edward only with this provision (viz)
that all what her husband shall owe or be indebted to me at my decease shall be deducted and paid out of her part of what I leave that the others be not u_suged(?) and further my will and ___________ is that she the said Ann Phillips nor her husband shall receive any more than the interest of the money due to her (after the said debt is deducted) which shall be put out by my two Executors at their discretion and no principal paid to her during her said husband�s life

and lastly I do hereby ordain constitute and appoint Mr John Collins Junior (?) and Humphrey Wickham my Son in Law my joint Executors of this my last will and testament utterly discumuli___ any other Wills or Legacies or Executors ratifying and confirming this and no other to be my last Will and Testament In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the Day and Date above written Edward Chantler Signed Sealed published pronounced and declared by the said Edward Chantler as his last Will and Testament in the presence of us who have here unto signed our names this sixth day of August 1790

This will was proved at London the twenty-sixth day of November in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and ninety four before the Worshipful Thomas Champion Crispigney doctor of Laws and Surrogate of the Right Honourable Sir William Wynne knight also Doctor of Laws Master Keeper or Commissary of the Prerogative Court of Canterbury lawfully constituted by the Oath of John Collins the younger out of the Executors named in the Will to whom Administration was granted of all and singular the Goods Chattels and Credits of the Deceased having been first Sworn duly to Administer //-- power reserved (?) of making the like grant to Humphrey Wickham the other Executor when he shall apply for the same
