In the name of God amen the Sixteenth day of May Anno Dom 1698
I John Chapman of Egerton in the County of Kent Inholder, being weak in body but of a perfect Memmory thanks be to God for it; doe make and ordaine this my last will and testament, that is to say, I recommend my soul into the hands of God that gave it and my body I commend to the earth to be buried in a Christian like manner and as to my worldly Estate I dispose of the same in the following manner

Imprimis I give and bequeath unto Susanah my Loving wife all and singuler my goods and Chattels both within doores and without ready money debts upon bond or otherwise Croppe and Stock for and during the terme of her Naturall life

She my said wife bringing up and providing for my two Grand-sonnes John Ames and Richard Ames untill they the said John and Richard Ames shall attaine unto the age of thirteen years a piece
And alsoe she my said wife paying and discharging all my just debts and funerall expences

And after the decease of my said wife I give and dispose all my said goods and Chattels whatsoever unto my three Daughters Bethula wife of Arthur Chapman, Mary wife of John Wakam and Susanah wife of Stephen Woolly to be equally divided amongst them they my said Daughters being at an equall charge in providing for my aforsaid Grand Sonnes untill they shall attaine unto their afors�d ages of thirteen years apeice if she my said wife shall dye before that time

Item I make and ordaine Susanah my said wife Sole Executrix of this my last will and testament.
Item I revoak all other wills by me made whatsoever.

Arthur Chapman, 40, yeoman of Sutton Valence & Bethulah Chapman, 24, otp married 7 Feb 1688/9 at Egerton
Steph Woolley, Widower, otp & Sus Chapman, 25, otp married 2 Oct 1690 at Egerton [my ancestors]
John Chapman was buried 20 May 1698 and his widow Susanna was buried 2 Oct 1716, both at Egerton.
