whereas I am possessed of a �425 Stock in the Government Stocks or Funds rated three per cent Consolidated Annuities I give and bequeath the same in
the following manner.
To my Grandson, George Backett Chapman I give and bequeath the sum of �30 of Lawful Money the same to be paid to him by my Executrix hereinafter
named when he shall have attained the age of 21 years
and as to the rest and remainder of the said Stock I give and bequeath the same unto and between my son Henry Chapman and my two daughters
Anne Hillier and Amy Sawyer in equal portions share and share alike
and whereas Charles Kadwell of Stockwell Street, Greenwich stands indebted to me of a certain sum of borrowed money and which by his note of hand he thereby agrees to repay the same again when demanded and at the same price and interest as if the same had been invested in the 3 per cent Consols, I do hereby give and bequeath the whole of the same unto my daughter Elizabeth Chapman for her own use and benefit
and whereas my son George Chapman stands indebted to me in the sum of �50, now I do give, forgive and release my said son George Chapman from the payment of the said sum of �50 and so order and direct my Executrix hereinafter named to excuse & release my said son from the payment of the said sum of �50
also I give devise and bequeath unto my daughter Elizabeth Chapman all those my freehold messuages, lands, tenements, grounds/heraditaments and premises with the appurtances thereof situate lying and being at Lingfield in the County of Surrey and now in the tenure or occupation of Thomas Deadman under a lease of 14 years from Michaelmas 1833 to have and to hold all and every of the said messuages lands and tenements and grounds/heraditaments with the appurtances situate as aforesaid to her my said daughter Elizabeth Chapman, her heirs and apointees, for ever
and as to all the rest and residue of my property, debts due to me, household furniture and other my effects whatsoever and wheresoever after the payment of my just debts and all expenses attending my Funeral and this my Will I give and bequeath the same to my daughter Elizabeth Chapman for her own use and benefit
and I do hereby name and constitute and appoint my said daughter Elizabeth Chapman my residuary legatee and the whole and sole Executrix of this my Last Will and Testament
in witness whereof I, Backett Chapman the Testator have to this my Will contained in one sheet of paper set my hand
and seal this fifteenth day of June in the year of Our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty five � Backett Chapman � signed sealed published
and scribed by the said Testator Backett Chapman as for his Last Will and Testament in the presence of us who
at his request in his presence and in the presence of each other subscribed our names as Witnesses thereto
Thomas Twort, Hayes Kent, Inn Keeper, John Smith, Gardener, Hayes Kent, Henry Dawes, Hayes Kent, Blacksmith.
Proved at London 22 Aug 1839 before the Worshipful Sherrard Beaumont Burnaby Dr of Laws and Surrogate by the Oath of Elizabeth Chapman, Spinster, the daughter and sole Executrix to whom admin was granted having been first sworn duly to act.
