In the name of God Amen the two and twentith day of September Anno dini 1623
I Henry Clarke the Elder of the towne of Folkstone in the County of Kent, fisherman sick and weake in body, but sound and whole in mind, and of good and perfect memory (God bee praised) doe make and ordaine this my last will and testament in manner and forme follwing, vizt.
I bequeath my soule to Almighty God my maker, stedfastly beleeving that my sinnes are forgiven mee, and hoping assuredly that I shall bee made heire of life everlasting by and through the merrits of the death and passion of Jesus Christ my Saviour, and I Comitt my body to the Earth whereof it is made, hoping that it shall rise againe at the resurrection to everlasting life and glory

Item I give and bequeath unto Henry Clarke my sonne and to the heires of his body lawfully begotten for ever all that my messuage or ten[emen]te wherein I now dwell w[i]thall Garden thereunto belonging w[i]th th[e ]appurtenances, and also one litle Cottage by the sea side called a lodge wth thappurtenances

And if the said Henry Clarke my sonne doe die and dep[ar]te this life wthout such heires of his body lawfully begotten then I will that the said Messuage or Tenement and Garden and Lodge abovenamed wthall and sing[u]ler the? appurtenances shall descend come remaine and bee to Henry Clarke sonne of Robert Clarke my sonne and to the heirs of the body of the said Henry Clarke (sonne of the said Robert Clarke) for ever

And if it shall happen the said Henry Clarke my sonne to have heires of his body lawfully begotten as aforesaid, then my will is that hee or his assigns shall pay or cause to bee paid to the said Henry Clarke, sonne of the said Robert Clarke wthin the space of three yeares after hee hath such an heire the sume of five pounds

Item I give and bequeath to the said Henry Clarke my sonne all that my boat called Crdier known by the name of the harry wthall and singuler the furniture and appurtenances thereunto belonging wthin doores and wthout, vizt. all and singuler my nets of what manner or kind soever, that is to say, whether they bee sprat nets, herring netts or mackarell netts

Item I give to Richard Clarke my sonne xs [10s]
and to Rebecca his daughter xs and to Margaret his daughter xs and to his young sonne nowe lately borne into the World xs
Item I give to Robert Clarke my sonne xs
and to John, Henry and Jane, Children of the said Robert Clarke xs a peece to every each one of them

Item I give to William Christopher ..min? sonne of William Christopher Sen [Senior?] xs and to Rebecca, daughter of the said William Christopher Senr xs
Item I give to my daughter Sara Justice wife of William Justice xs
and to William, sonne of the said William Justice xs and to his daughter Julian Justice ten shillings
Item I give to Thomas Clarke sonne of John Clarke my sonne deceased ten shillings
All these Legacies w[hi]ch I have given in mony as is afforesaid, I will that they shall bee paid to evry person or party abovenamed by my executor wthin the space or terme of three yeares next after my decease

The rest of my Goods unbequeathed and not given, I give to the said Henry Clarke my sonne whom I make the Executor of this my last will and testament, paying my debtes and legacies and dischardging my Funerall
and I make I make Mr. Robert Jonlen [Jenkin?] one of the Jurates of the towne of Folkestone afforesaid Supervisor of this my last will and testament

In Witnes whereof to this my last will and testament I have set my hand and seale the day and yeare above written in the presence of
Benjamin Master; Robert Culverden; Edward Patteson;
Henry Clarke Senr. his marke
