Will of John Claris

This is the last Will and Testament of me John Claris late of the Parish of Holy Cross Westgate in the County of Kent Silk Weaver now of Morden College in the said County of Kent

First I Give and devise unto my two Sons William Claris and George Claris equally to be divided between them and to their several and respective Heirs and Assigns for ever to take and hold as Tenants in Common and not as joint Tenants All that my Messuage or Tenement wherein they now dwell with the Buildings Garden and Appurtenances thereto belonging situate lying and being in or near North Lane in the Parish of Holy Cross Westgate aforesaid and also all other my Real Estate whatsoever and wheresoever and also all the Household Goods and Household Furniture in and belonging to my said Messuage or Tenement

and if either of my said two Sons shall happen to die and depart this life before me then I give and deivse my said Messuage or Tenement dwell with the Buildings Garden and Appurtenances thereto belonging and also all other my Real Estate and the said Household Goods and Furniture unto the Survivor of them my said Sons and his Heirs

he and they paying out of the same unto my Son John Claris the Sum of Twenty Pounds with the payment whereof I do in such Case hereby charge all the said Messuage and Premises with the Appurtenance
Also I give and bequeath unto my said Son John Claris the sum of Forty Five Pounds of lawful money of Great Britain to be paid unto him within One Month next after my decease in full satisfaction of and for a like Sum for which I have given him a Note of my hand

Also I give and bequeath unto Alice Martin my late Servant Five Guineas
I Also give to Jane Norris of Morden College aforesaid Five Guineas
to be paid to each of them within One Month next after my decease

Also I give and bequeath unto my said Son William Claris for and during the term of his natural life One Annuity or clear Yearly Sum of Thirty Pounds of lawful money of Great Britain to be paid unto him clear of all deductions Yearly during his life at Midsummer and Christmas by equal half Yearly Payments the first Payment whereof to begin and be made on such of the said Feasts which shall first and next happen after my decease
And I do hereby charge all my Annuities in the Annuities called the Short Annuities in the Bank of England with the Payment of the said Annuity of Thirty Pounds a Year unto my said Son William Claris during his life as aforesaid

also after Payment of my debts Legacies and Funeral Expences I do hereby bequeath all the Rest and Residue of my Goods Chattels Effects and Personal Estate whatsoever unto my said Sons John Claris and George Claris equally to be divided between them share and share alike

And I do make Constitute and Appoint them the said John Claris and George Claris Executors of this my last Will and Testament and hereby revoking all former Wills I do publish and declare these presents to be and contain my only last Will and Testament

In Witness whereof I the said John Claris the Testator have hereunto set my hand and Seal this nineteenth day of May in the Year of Our Lord One thousand seven hundred and eighty four John Claris
