In the name of God Amen the seaven and twenteeth daie of September in the yeare of our Lorde God 1610 and in the eight yeare of the raigne of Or Our Soveraigne lord James by the grace of God, King of England France and Ireland Defender of the Faith etc. and in the foure and fortieth yeare of his raigne in Scotland
I Henrie Colman of the parish of Sanford in the Countie of Kent Yeoman, beinge weake and sicke in body but whole in mynde and of perfect remembrance (thanks bee unto God for yt) doe make and ordaine my last will and testament in mann[e]r and forme following (that is to say)
Firste I bequeath my soule unto the hands of almightie God who first gave yt unto mee trusting in his mercie and by the bitter passion of my lord and onely Savior Jesus Chryst to inherit the kingdome of heaven; And my bodie being but dust? (when my soule hath left it) I Comitt unto the earth, to bee decentlie and Christian like buried and brought unto the earth by my executors and such other Frends whose honise tee [honesty] shall thinke good bee use in this matter

Item I give unto my sonne in law Thomas Colman the some of Tenn pounds of lawful money of England w[hi]ch hee oweth mee upon an obligation
Item I give unto Thomas Colman the sonne of the said Thomas and of Eliz. my daughter the some of tenn pounds of lawfull money of England to bee p[ai]d unto him at his full age of one and twenty yeres yf hee had? to come unto his said age

Item I give unto the sayd Elizabeth my daughter and to the said Thomas Colman her sonne to e[a]ch of them an ewe, the Ewe Willed to her to bee delivered to her ymmediatly after my decease, and the other Ewe willed to her sonne to be delivered unto her for the use of her said sonne within three monethes next after my decease
Item I give unto Mathewe, William, Henry and Elizabeth the children of my daughter Ann Court to eche of them an Ewe to bee delievered unto them ymmediatly after my decease

Item I give and bequeath to Susann and Marie Colman my daughters to eche of them the some of Fiftie pounds of lawfull money of England to bee severallie paid unto eche att theire severall ages of one and twenty yeeres
Item I give unto my aforesaid daughter Elizabeth Colman the some of twenty pounds of lawfull money of England to bee paid her w[i]thin three monthes next after my decease, if soe be that my cosen Henry Colman the sonne of my Brother John Colman deceased shall att the request of my Executor hereafter named become bounden unto him in an obligacon of threescore pounds of lawfull money of England unto my said daughter Elizabeth w[i]thin three monthes after the decease of her said husband Thomas Colman if shee shall fortune to secome and overlive him

Item I geve unto my said daughter Anne Court all such houshould stuffe and implements of houshould as shee and her husband have of mee or that time after her mariage

Item I give and bequeath unto Susan my wief one of my Ewe to bee taken att her choice and eleccon Alsoe I give her more one seame of wheate and one seame of malt And I further will unto her the use of half my houshoulde stuffe in my howse wher[e] I now dwell during her naturall life if shee shall soe long remaine sole and unmarried but Con... [continue?] dwelling in my howse
Also I will that all my houshoulde stuffe and utensells of houshould after the decease of my said wief shalbee equallie divided beetweene my Two sonnes Thomas and Henry Colman

Item I will and bequeath and my will myne and intent is that if either of my said daughters Susann or Mary shall fortune to die and depart this life beefore their said ages of one and twenty yeares, then the other surviving and alsoe the said Elizabeth my daughter shall have her porcon of Fiftie pounds unto her before willed and bequeathed equally divided between them

Item I further give unto the said Susan my daughter Three loades of wood to bee delivered & laid for her within one moneth next after my decease at the house where I now dwell
Item I give unto Susann Colman the daughter of my brother Nicholas Colman deceased one of my Ewes
Also I give unto Alice Colman the daughter of Daniell Colman one Ewe legg;
Item I give Elizabeth the daughter of the said Nicholas Colman one Ewe legg;

The residue of all my goods and chattles whatsoever not bequeathed and disposed by this my last will and testament I give and bequeath unto Thomas Colman my sonne whom I make and ordayne my sole executor of this my present last will and testament, charging him upon the dutie of a sonne to see my debts truly paid and my legacies performed and my funerall expences discharged according unto the true intent and meaning thereof

And I make William Cobbes of Alington in the County of Kent aforesaid my very good freind to be the overseer of this my testament and last will, requesting him to doe what in him lyeth to see the same performed as nere my intent and meaning as may bee, and for his paines herein to bee taken I give unto him Fourtie shillings of lawfull money of England & all such Charge & expences as hee shall lay out and distwise [disburse?] about this my last will and testament

This is the last will and testament of mee the afors[ai]d Henry Coleman made and by me personally declared the daie and yeare first above written touching and Concerning the disposicon of all my lands, tenements and herdytants [hereditaments]

First I will that the said Susan my wief shall have during her n[atu]rall lief the use of the halfe in the house wherein I now dwell, the buttery, the entrie and the loftes and chambers over the sayd Roomes, to her owne proper use and not otherwise, the said Thomas my sonne and his servants and Rolanie? havinge at all tymes free Coming, and Comng through the said entry

Item I will that the said Susan shall have half the fruite everie yeare growing in my orchard next the barne att my house aforesaid; and her selfe and her servants free libertie and authority to Come and goe unto the said Orchard to gather the said fruite and the same to carry away att their will and pleasures
Also I will that my wief shall have free use of the well belonging to my said house to draw water for her necessary use, and also liberty to use the Ovenn in my said house as often as shee shall have neede to goe unto ovenn and bake
Alsoe I will that my said wief shall have yerely during her naturall lief one half bushell of hempeseede sowen in my hempland belonginge unto my saide house in Stanford aforesaid, in what place shee shall thinke good of the said hempland, att the costs and charges of my said sonne Thomas, shee onely fynding seede herefore And also I will that my said wief shall have liberty att her will and pleasure to dean and d..rie? the said hempe and to take and have the Croppe and benifite thereof
Alsoe I will that the said Susan my wief shall have yerely during her n'rall lief one milke cowe well and sufficiently pastured in Sommer and of foddered in winter by my said sonne Thomas on my grounde in Stanford afforesaid thereafter willed unto him my Sonne Thomas

Alsoe I will unto my said wief liberty and authoritie to sell wood which if shee shall refuse to thereof and refuse for time after my decease to sweare? againe that then after such refusall made or her saide mariage, she the said Susan shall not take nor have anie benifit of anie legacy given and willed unto her in this my last will and testament, but the said will shalbee as unto her void and of noe effect

Item I give and bequeath unto Thomas Colman my eldest sonne all my before Expressed messuages, lands, tenements and hereditaments with all and singular their and eyther of there apptenns [appurtenances], sett, lying and being in the severall p[ar]ishes of Stanford, Elmested or Westhith [West Hythe] or in eyther of them in the said Countie of Kent, To have and to holde unto the said Thomas my sonne and to his heires and assignes for ever

Item I give and bequeath unto Henry Colman my youngest sonne all that my messuage or Tenement in Braborne, and all my lands, tenements and heredita[me]nts in the severall parishes of Braborne and Stowtinge in the said Countie of Kent w[it]hall and Singuler their and eyther of theire apprtenns, To have and to holde unto the said Henry Colman, his heires and assignes for ever

Witnesses that the above named Henry Colman did publish and declare this for his last will and testament, and did set his hand and Seale unto yt, And did alsoe write his name on evrie sheete beeing in Number Three with his owne hand,
William Cobbes; Anthoni Hall; Daniell Colman his marke
