In the name of God Amen I Thomas Comport of Woolwich in the Countie of Kent Wharfinger beinge sicke of bodie but of perfect mind and remembrance, blessed be the Lord, I doe therefore make and declare my last will and testament in manner and forme following, That is to say,
first and principally I recommend my soule into the hands of God my maker And to Jesus Christ my onely Saviour and Redeemer My bodie I will to be decently buried at the discretion of my Executor, hereafter named And as touching my reall and personall estate I dispose thereof as Followeth, That is to say,

Item I give and bequeath unto my sonne Thomas Comport now at sea the full and whole summe of one hundred pounds of lawfull English money to be paid unto him his Executors Administrators and Assignes within sixe moneths after my decease;
Be it alwayes provided my will is That if my said sonne Thomas Comport shall returne from Sea, and keep and bringe up or reside to be kept and brought upp as a child ought to be nurtured (untill he shalbe fit for a trade) John Langdon, one of my grandchildren That then my said legacie of one hundred pounde be paid by my Executors as afore said

And if it should happen to be That my said sonne Thomas Comport should not returne from sea and performe my desre in the keepinge and bringinge upp of the said John Landon my grandchild, then my will is that threescore of the said hundred pounds be by my executors paid unto Anne Landon my daughter And for the other Fortie pounds which remaines of the said hundred and unbequeathed my will is it shall remaine in my Executors hands and at his discretion to dispose thereof for the good of my grandchildren

Item that I give and bequeath more unto the said Thomas Comport my sonne to him his Executors and Assignes the time and terme yet to come and unexpired of one Indenture and Lease of the house in his occupacon withall and singular the profits, benefits thereunto apperteininge
Be it also provided That if my said sonne Thomas Comport shall performe or case to be performed my above menconed desire unto the said John Landon my grandchild, That then my will is that he the said Thomas Comport my sonne for himselfe, his heires, Executors and Assignes shall have, hold, occupie and enjoye the said house withall and singular the profits and benefits thereunto belonginge duringe the time and terme of yeares yet unexpired;

And if my said sonne Thomas Comport should happen to die before the terme of yeares menconed in the said Lease be expired, My will is that then Elizabeth Comport his now wife shall have and Injoye the above menconed house withall and singular the benefits and profits thereunto untill the end of the said terme yet unexpired, she doeinge and performinge my said desire unto the said John Langdon my grandchild in keepinge or bringinge of him upp untill he shalbe fit for a trade or liveinge;
And if the said Elizabeth Comport now wife of my said sonne Thomas Comport shall before the said terme be expired happen to dye My will is that then the said house shall rebounden to my Executor hereinafter named

Item I give and bequeath unto my daughter Anne Langdon widdowe the full summe of Fiftie pounds of lawfull English money To be paid unto her, her Executors or Assignes within sixe moneths after my decease
Item I give unto her moreover her now dwelling house with all and singular its appurtenances duringe her time of my ease;

Item I give and bequeath unto John Tottington my grandchild the full summe of Tenn pounds of lwfull English money to be disposed of by my Executor towards the bringing of him up;
Item I give and bequeath unto Alice Tottington and Margaret Tottington my grandchildren the full summe of Tenn pounds apiece To be paid to them and either of them at their severall ages of Twentie yeares or dayes of marriage which shall first happen, And my will is that if either of them two shall die before the said time the porcon of the deceased to be the survivor of them And the same to be paid accordingly by my said Executor

Item I give and bequeath unto John, Marie, Anne and Sarah Langdon my grandchildren the full sume of five pounds a piece To be paid unto them or either of them at their Severall ages of Twentie yeares or dayes of marriage which shall first happen; And my will is if either of them foure should die before the said time the porcon or porcons of the deceased shalbe due and payable to the Survivor or Survivors to be equally divided and parted part alike, And the same to be paid accordingly by my said Executor

Item I give and bequeath unto my Cosin Thomas Comport of Woolwich lighter man All my wearinge Apparrell to be delivered unto him within one weeke after my decease by my said Executor
Item I give and bequeath unto my sonne in lawe James Ivy the full summe of Twelve pence To be paid at or upon his demand after my decease;
Item I give and bequeath unto my sonne in law Roger Tuney? the sume of five shillings To be paid by my Executor at his demand after my decease;

And as touchinge the disposinge of my reall and personall estate my goods, Chattells, debts, bills, bonds, leases and all other implements not menconed [mentioned] as all moveable or household goods whatsoever yet unbequeathed
Item I give and bequeath the same unto my sonne Nicholas Comport To have and to hold all and singular to him and his heieres forever; He or they payinge my debts and the Legacies abovesaid in manner and forme afoursaid And also payinge my funerall charges;

And I doe make and declare my said sonne Nicholas Comport to be my full and whole Executor of this my last will and testament hereby revokinge and disallowinge of all other and former wills, Legacies and gifts by me heretofore made or given, And this to stand for and as my last will and Testament and so to be Accompted and none other

In Witnesse whereof I have to this my present Testament and last will put my hand and seale this twentie third of June one Thousand sixe hundred Fiftie five

Memorandum
that there is to be paid by my Executor Nicholas Comport unto Margaret and Alice Tottington my grandchildren Twentie pounds apiece which was given them by their father John Tottington after his decease It is to be paid at their severall ages of Twentie yeares or dayes of marriage which shall first happen

Memorandum before sealinge and deliveringe of these prsents That in the seavententh line there is blotted out these words (my bequeathed Lease unto him aforesaid) they beinge impertinent in that place and not my desire to have it written Likewise in the Fortieth line mistaken, either of their demands for at the demand Therefore erased out before sealinge and deliveringe T. C.

This will was proved at London the seaven and Twentieth day of November in the yeare of our Lord God one Thousand sixe hundred Fiftie five before the Judges for probate of Wills and grantinge of Administracons Lawfully sworn authorized by the oath of Nicholas Comport the naturall and lawfull sonne of the said deceased and sole Executor named in the said will To whome was committed Administracon of all and singular the said deceaseds goods, Chattells and debts, The said will beinge pronounced for by a distinctive sentence in that behalfe read and promulgated, He the said Nicholas beinge first in due forme of Law sworne well and truly to administer the same
