I Charles Comport late of Cooling but now of Frindsbury in the Count of Kent, Gentleman do make my last Will and Testament in Manner following (that is to say)

I do hereby give and bequeath unto my Brother Michael Comport all my Term Right and Interest of in and to all those several Pieces or Parcels of Marshland and Salts called Bennets Marshes lying and being in the Parish of Cliffe in the said County with their Appurtenances now in my own Occupation and which I hold by Lease under the Right Hon[oura]ble the Earl of Darnley To hold the same and every part thereof with their Appurtenances together (with) the said Lease and all Right and Benefit thereof unto the said Michael Comport his Executors, Administrators and Assigns for and during the Remainder of the Term and Interest that may be to come and unexpired therein at the Time of my Decease subject to the Rent Covenants and Agreements expressed in the said Lease

Also I give to Jane Skinner the Housekeeper or Servant of my Brother John Comport the Sum of Twenty Guineas of lawful Money of Great Britain and Ireland to be paid to her within two Months next after my decease without any deduction for duty Release or any other Matter or Thing whatsoever

And it is my Will and I do direct that my Executors herein after named shall within one Month next after my decease cause and procure a just and perfect Inventory Appraisement and Valuation to be made and taken by two Proper Persons of All the Rest Residue and Remainder of my personal Estate Goods Stock Cattle Monies and Securities for Money Chattels and Effects whatsoever and wheresoever which I shall be possessed of or entitled to at the Time of my decease

And I do direct that all my just debts Funeral Expences Probate of this my Will and all other incident Charges and Expences whatsoever attending the Execution thereof shall be first deducted out of the total Value or Amount of such Inventory and Appraisement and the clear Residue produce or Surplus thereof and of the Monies arising thereof And all other my personal Estate and Effects whatsoever (not hereinbefore disposed of) I do hereby give and bequeath unto my four Brothers and two Sisters named Thomas, Michael, George and John Comport, Jane the Wife of Edward Edwards and Kitty Comport in equal Parts or Shares for their respective use and Benefit and which distribution and Payment I do direct to be made within one year next after my death

And I do hereby direct and declare that the Receipt or Receipts of my said two Sisters notwithstanding their Coverture with any present or future Husband and whether married or sole shall be a good and sufficient discharge or discharges to my Executors for the respective Shares or Proportions of my personal Estate or Effects hereby bequeathed to them as aforesaid

And I do hereby declare that my Executors or either of them shall not be charged with or accountable for any more Money arising from my Estate or Effects or the Sale thereof or any Part or Parts thereof than shall be actually received by them or one of them to come to their or one of their respective Hands Possession or Use nor for any Loss or Reduction in the Value thereof nor for any other Loss which shall or may happen in the Execution or Management of the Trusts hereby in them reposed unless the same should be occasioned by or through his or their wilful Neglect or Default

And it is my Will and desire that my Executors and the Survivor of them shall and Lawfully may deduct retain and reimburse themselves and himself out of the Monies that may come to his or their Hands by virtue of this my Will or the Trusts thereof all reasonable Costs Charges and Expences whatsoever which they or either of them shall or may sustain expend or be put unto in or about the Execution and Trusts of this my Will or in or about the Execution or Management thereof or any Suit Proceeding Act Matter of Thing whatsoever relative thereto or concerning the same in any wise howsoever

Also I do hereby nominate constitute and appoint my said Brothers Thomas Comport and Michael Comport Executors of this my last Will and Testament
And lastly I revoke and make void all former Wills by me at any Time heretofore made and do declare this alone to be my last Will and Testament

In Witness whereof I the Testator Charles Comport to the first Sheet of this my Will contained in two Sheets of Paper have set my Hand at the Bottom thereof and to this second and last Sheet have set my Hand and Seal this twenty sixth day of February in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and three

Signed Sealed Published and Declared by the said Testator Charles Comport as and for his last Will and Testament in the Presence of us who in his presence at his Request and in the presence of each other have subscribed our Names as Witnesses hereto

This Will was proved at London on the tenth day of May in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and three before the Right Honorable Sir William Wynne Knight Doctor of Laws Maser Keeper or Commissary of the Prerogative Court of Canterbury lawfully constituted by the Oaths of Thomas Comport and Michael Comport the Brothers of the deceased and the Executors named in the said Will to whom Administration of all and singular the Goods Chattels and Credits of the deceased was granted they having been first sworn duly to adm[iniste]r.
