Last Will and testament of Andrew Coke of Wie, Kent, dated 29th October 1556

In the Name of God Amen in the yere of our Lord God 1556 and in the xxixth daye of October.
I Andrew Coke beynge xpfette [perfect] memory thankes be to go make my testament in maner and forme followynge /
First I mayall my soule to allmyghtye [God] to oure blessed ladye Auguste Marye and to all the hollye companye of heaven wyllynge my body to be buryed in the churche of Wye

Item I give to my tithes forgotten a iii d
Item I give to my mother iiii kyne one haffer one weanynge calfe ii stewes iiii horse one calfe and a wayne and all my buttery
Item a featherbed wythe a bolster and all my householde stuffe

Item iii sylver spones to my sister Agnes
Item to my syster Cycely Oxley ii Sylver Spones
Item I gyve to my brother Wyllyam Oxley my best geldynge in essex and my best cloke
Item I give to John Coke the elder a cowe

Item I give to my syster Anne a xh being in Master John Carrowgh handes
Item I gyve to my brother John Beverley a xxvis xiiid
Item I gyve iiii seames * of otes and halfe a seame that I have to George Halles
Item I gyve my brother Joseph one cowe

The residue of all my goodes I gyve to Johan my mother whome I make my sole executrix
Theyse beynge wytnes Syr Thomas Sonothyoye Wyllyam Kempe Thomas Wyat

Proved 25th February 1556.

* a seame is 8 bushels � which itself is not an exact weight, but more a volume � which in this case, was a horse-load.
