In the name of God Amen In the yere of our Lorde God [1557] the ixth daye of Marche
I Thomas Cooke of the parysshe of Apledore sycke in my bodye and of good remembrance dothe make this my laste wyll and testament in maner and forme folowynge
Firste I bequethe my sowle to almyghtye God to his blessed mother owre ladye Sainte Marye and to all the holly and blessed companye that ys in heaven and my bodye to be buryed in the churcheyarde of Apledore
Further more as touchinge my temporall goodes That ys the laste wyll of me the saide Thomas wrytten the daye and yere above saide

First I bequethe to the hygh altar of Apledore one latten candlestycke wythe one tapar of wax of the pryce of ijd
Also yt is my wyll to have one masse and one dyrydge [dirige] that daye that I am buryed
Also yt ys my wyll that in the daye of my buryall there shalbe one barrell of bere wythe iij dosen of breade devyded amonge the povertye [i.e., the poor of the parish]

The rest of all my goods not geven nor bequethed I doe geve to Anne my wyfe whome I doe ordeyne and make to be my executryx
