In the name of God Amen The yeer of oure Lord God [1557] and aboute the monethe of February in the yeer of our Lorde God abovesayde
I William Cooke of the pishe [parish] of Wingham do ordeine & make thys my last testament in maner and fourme followinge
Fyrst I bequeth my soule to Almightie God my bodye to be buryed in the pishe churcheyard of Wingham

Item I give to Angnes my wyff my two tenementes wtall [with all] thinges thereto belonginge wth [with] therapptenanncs [their appurtenances] wtall other thinges movable and unmovable whatsoever they be deuinge [during] her lyff onely and she shall kepe my children deuringe her lyfe
And after her lyffe I will that Robart Cooke my youngest sonne shall have to him and hys my howse whr [where] I now dwell in wth thapptenncs thereto belonginge

Item I give to Thomas my eldest sonne my other howse on the west syde to him and tohys [to his heirs] wth the apptenanncs therto belonginge
And if one of my children (fortune to dye) fairle the other to have hys pte. [part] And if booth dye before they come to Lawfull age I will that Christen Usse my wyves dowghter shall enoiye [enjoy] all pts.

Probatum fuit: Ultimo dei [30th] Aprillis [1558]

Notes: Wingham parish registers do not commence until 1568.
Wife Agnes Cooke died and is buried at St. Mildred, Preston-next-Wingham on 20th November 1560.
Son Thomas Cooke marries Ursula Deane 1st Sept. 1569 at Wingham and dies there in July 1614.
See his Will: PRC 32/42/385 Will of Thomas Cooke of Wingham, undated but proved 19th July 1614.
Son Robert Cooke is buried at Wingham on 6th March 1618.
