In the name of God Amen The xixth day of October in the yeare of our Lord god one thousand six hundred twenty and three
I Richard Cooke of Beakesbourne in the County of Kent Gent. being sicke in body but of good and perfect remembrance prayse be given to god doe make and ordayne this my present testament conteyning therein my last Will and testament in maner and forme following, That is to say,
First I bequeath my Soule into the handes of Almightie god, trusting to be saved by the meritts and merceyes of Jesus Christ my Mediator and Redemer And my body to eb buryed in the Church or Churchyard of Beakesbourne aforesayd

Item I give and bequeath to the poore of the parish of Beakesbourne aforesayd the Sume of five shillings eight pence of lawfull money of England to be payd unto them within ne yeare next after my decease

Item I give and bequeath unto Thomas Tayler my sonne in Lawe one featherbed with a bedstedle, one presse, three cheste and all maner of houshould stuffe which he hath in his posession of myne at theis present tyme

Item I give and bequeath unto Elizabeth my daughter the wife of Richard Burton the sume of Ten pounds of lik money to be payd unto her within two yeares next after my decease

Item I give and bequeath unto Richard Tayler sonne unto my daughter Susan one Silver Salt Sellar and two Silver Spoones
Item I give and bequeath unto the said Thomas Tayler my sonne in lawe my Nagge

Item I give and bequeath unto Henery my sonne the summe of Ten shillings of like oney to be payd unto him within two yeares next after my decease
Item I give and bequeath unto William my sonne the sume of Tenn shillings to be payd unto him within two yeares next after my decease

Item I give unto Ann my daughter the like sume of Tenn shillings to be payd to her within one yeare next after my decease
Item I give unto Mary my daughter the like sume of Tenn shillings to be payd to her within two yeares next after my decease
Item I give unto Francis my daughter the like sume of Tenn shillings to be payd to her within two yeares next after my decease
Item I give unto Susan my daughter the sume of Forty shillings of like money to be payd to her within two yeares next after my decease

Item I give and bequeath unto Ann the daughter of my sonne Austen the sume of Twenty pounds of like money to be payd unto her within three yeares next after my decease
But yf it shall please God the sayd Ann shall dye before the expericaon of the sayd tearme, Then my will and mynd is that Robart her brother shall have and enioy the sayd summe of Twenty pounds

The Residue of my goods, debts, cattells and Chattells my debts being payd, my legacyes discharged and my Funerall expences performed I give and bequeath unto my said sonne Austin whom I make and ordayne my whole and sole Executor of this my last will and Testament

In Witnesse whereof I the said Richard Cooke the Testator have to this my last Will set my hand and Seale the day and yeare first above written

Notes:
Richard Cooke appears to have had quite a number of children, although his marriage is not found. Children, in date order (christening dates given):
15 Jan 1577 Rychard; 16 Nov 1577 Henry; 9 Feb 1580 William; 19 Feb 1581 Elizabeth; 25 Apr 1582 Francys; 16 Jan 1584 Thomas; 13 Dec 1584 Austyn; then possibly 3 all given as 1590: Ann, Jane and Susan.
Richard �Coocke�, Gent. died and is buried 20th October 1623 at St. Peter, Bekesbourne.
Augustine (Austyn) Cooke married 6th Nov 1609 to Mary Brown at Molash, and his children:
22 Jun 1615 Robart (at Bekesbourne); Jane 1 Aug 1619.
