In the name of God Amen the first day of January in the yeare of our Lord god 1629 (1630)
I Nicholas Cooke of Whitchinge in the Countie of Kent Carpenter beeing sicke in bodie but of good and perfect memorie (God be praised therefore) doe make and ordayne this my last will and Testament in manner and forme following (That is to say)
First as much as in me lieth I will and bequeath my Soule into the handes of god my maker hoping assuredly through the onelie death and merritts of Jesus Christ my saviour to bee made partaker of liffe everlasting And I will my bodie to the earth whereof it was made

Item I will and bequeath unto Margarett my wiffe all my househould stufe during her naturall liffe and after her decease I will that all my said househould stuffe within the house wherein I now dwell shall remyane unto my daughter Johane for ever (except the Table in the haule and one Iron pott and the househould stuffe in the house where my other daughter Elizabeth) after my wiffes decease

Item I will and bequeath unto my daughter Johane all my working tooles presently after my decease

Item I will unto Margaret my wife the lease which I have as Administrator unto my sonn Richard of one Feild from Thomas Tomnery? during her naturall life And after her decease I will the same lease unto my daughter Elizabeth

The Residue of all my goodes chattells and debts, my debts and legacies beeing paid and all my funerall expences discharged I wholie give and bequeath unto my daughter Johane whome I doe hereby ordayne and make my sole executrix

And I doe ordayne and make Thomas Filmer and Richard Filmer (the sonn(s)? of William Fylmer) Overseers of this my will

This is the last will and Testament of mee the said Nicholas Cooke made and declared the day and yeare abovesaid Touching the disposing and ordering of all my lands and tenements whatsoever (That is to say)

First I will and bequeath all my said lands and Tenements unto the said Margarett my wiffe during the whole tearme of her naturall liffe : shee payeing the lords rent and keeping it well repaired and doeing noe stripp noe wast upon the same And after the decease of my said wiffe I will and bequeath unto Johane my daughter the house wherein I now dwell with the peece of land cauled Tom and to her heires for ever except such parte of the said Feild as heereafter is willed unto my daughter Elizabeth

And after the death of my said wife I will and bequeath unto Elizabeth my daughter and to her heires for ever the house wherein shee now dwelleth with the Barne and one peece of land called Smithies Dane Kirk And alsoe eight foote of land on the Southside and eight foote on the west side of the said house and Barne yf shee her heires or assignes doe incose the same with pale or quicksett hedge or ells not to have any

Item I will that Johane her heires and assignes shall have free libertie egresse and egresse to the pond to Fetch water shee makinge a stile over unto the same and keeping the Fence from the same stile unto the walnut tree And the said Elizabeth and her heires to keepe the Fence from the said walnut tree unto the lands of William Filmer

Also my will and meaning is that the said Johane shall not lett the same house att any tyme without the consent of my said Overseers or the Survivor of them

In Witness whereof I have caused this to bee written and have hereunto sett my hand and Seale and published it as my last will and testament Revoakinge all other willes heeretofore made in the presence of the witnesses heereunder written
