In the Name of God Amen I Thomas Cooke of Charing in the county of kent husbandman being sicke and weake in bodye, yett in p�fecte memorye thankes bee to God; doe heerbye make and declare this mye Last will and Testament in manner and forme followinge
First I comend mye Sowle unto Almighty God my Creator, Trustinge (and not doubting att all) to bee saved bye the death and passione of Jhesus Christ my Saviour and Redeemer
I comend and comitt mye bodye to the earth to bee buryed in christian buriall att the descretion of mye Executrix

I will first mye debts to bee truye pd. [paid]
Item I give and bequeath unto my Twoe sonnes, Henerye and John to each of them five powndes apeece of currant moneye of England to bee paid unto them by mye Executrix within on [one] yeare and a daye next after mye death

Further mye meaninge and will is that when so ever mye wif shall marye thatt uppon such mariage soe to bee consumated and made I doe give and bequeath unto my Twoe sonnes, Henerye and John fortye Sillinges [shillings] a peece of like moneye of England to bee paid by mye said Executrixe afore said the said some of fortye Sillinge a peece to bee paid unto them after one whole yeere shalbee ended next followinge the marriage of mye Wife Ann; to bee soe made and confirmed,

Further more my will and meaninge is that the said portions of five pownds a peece and the said portions of forty sillings (sic) notwithstand the former gift soe by mee bequeathed shall rest and Remaine in the hands of my Executrixe, and in the hands and Custodye of my Loveing friend John Wood of Charing Mercer whom I have appointed Overseer of this my last will and Testament To bee by them and att there discretions, beestowed Towards ther puttinge forth apprentises or placing of them in some trades or courses of life and to ther uses

for all the rest of mye Goods and Estate wch itt hath pleased God to Blesse mee withall (anye debtes and legacies as afforesaid and Funerall charges paid I give and bequeath unto my Loving wife Ann Cooke whome I make and ordeine mye Sole Executrixe of this my last will and Testament herebye declared as afforesaid

In Witnes whereof I have hereunto putt mye hand and Seale dated the fifteene daye of Maye anno dini 1629 and in the fifthe yeere of the Reigne of our Soveraigne Lord Charles bye the Grace of God of England Scotland France and Ireland King Defender of the faith, etc.

Notes: Thomas Cooke was buried at SS Peter & Paul, Charing on 29th January 1641/2.
25th August 1612. Thomas Cooke of Wormshill and Joane Foster of Barsted (Bearsted) were married at St. Mary Breadman, Canterbury, by Licence.
Their known children (all christened at Charing):
12-Oct 1617 Henry; 02-Apr 1620 John; 01-May 1631 Ann.
