I Susan Cooke of Mereworth in the County of Kent Widow Considering the mortallitie and brittlenes of the life of mankinde Doe in this my reasonable good health and perfect memory, God be thanked, make this my last Will and testament in forme and following
First and foremost I comend my soule to God that gave it hopeinge through the merritts of my saviour Jesus Christ to have free redemption and my body to be buried in the parish Church of Mereworth aforesaid if conveniently it may bee

Item I give unto my sonne in law John Cook one twenty shilling peece of gold within three monthes after my decease
Item I give unto the said John Cook my broade cubberd and all my tubbs and one filderkin and firking drinking Vessells and one churne and one brine tubb except my tanne callen? (the) rest of my tubbs I give unto him likewise I give him one deepe pewter platter wch [which] is comonly used and one paire potthookes one pair of threepencs and I give him our Flocke bed and one boulster and one paire of towen sheetes

Item I give unto my daughter in law Bennett Drury one twenty shilling peece of gold to be paid her within three monthes after my decease and one paire of hempten sheetes and one dresse pewter platter and one brasse kettle with an ironband and one draweing table and one litle wolsie? bedd blankett

Item I give unto my sonne in law Samuell Cooke one twenty shilling peece of gold and tenn shillings unto the wife of the said Samuell to be paid them within three monthes after my decease

Item I give unto my Goddaughter Susanna Cook the daughter of Samuell Cook fower pounds to be paid within three monethes next after my decease
Item I give unto Edward Cooke and John Cooke the sonnes of Samuell Cooke tenn shillings a peece to be paid them within three monethes next after my decease

Item I give unto my sonne in law John Cooke six trugge and one kettle brasse stumpnett and the longer spitt and one frying pann

Item I give unto my sonne in law Thomas Cooke one twenty shilling peece of gold and to his wife tenn shillings to be paid them within twelve monthes after my decease

Item I give unto John Dammoll and James Dammoll Henry Dammoll and Nicholas Dammoll all the sonnes of James Dammoll twenty shillings apeece except James Dammoll my Godsonne and to him I give fower pounds to be paid to them by their mother Susan Dammoll out of the tenn poundes which shee oweth me upon bond at their severall ages of twenty yeares And the other fourty shillings I give unto her selfe

Item I give unto Jane Stone the wife of Thomas Stone twenty shillings
And give unto my Godsonne John Stone forty shillings
And unto Thomas Stone and George Stone and Susanna Stone tenn shillings apeece to be paid unto them within twelve monethes next after my decease

Item I give unto Susanna Drury tenn shilings to be paid within twelve monethes next after my decease
Also I give unto her one Flocke bedd and one boulster and one paire of hempen sheetes and one home made bedd Covering and one little brasse pott

Item I give unto my Grandchild Thomas Beckett my fetherbed and three boulsters and my best Coering & pillowes and blanketts to the bedd and all the rest of my household I give him except the abovesaid household bequeathed unto others
Item I give unto the aforesaid Thomas Beckett my Grandchild twenty pounds to be paid him at his age of one and twenty yeares

Also I give unto him and his heires for ever if hee shall attaine unto the age of one and twenty yeares my howse and Land in the County of Kent and now in the occupation of Lawrence Saxten And likewise I give him & his heires for ever if he attaine unto the foursaid age my howse and orchard in West Peckham and now in the occupation of Thomas Varnum
Provided my will is that if the said Thomas Beckett my Grandchild shall happen to dye before his age of one and twenty yeares or without issue of his body lawfully begotten That then the aforesaid two Tenements bequeathed him I give equally to be devided betweene all the Children of Bennett Drury and Susan Dummell and their heires for ever

my meaning the rente and proffitts of the said Tenements to remaine unto my said Grandchild Thomas Beckett dureing his nonage if hee doe not attaine to the age of one and twenty yeares

Item I give unto John Dowle the sonne of James Dowle and Dorothy Perivale his Sister tenn shillings apeece
and to John Dowle the sonne of John Dowle and to Thomas Dowle and to their Sisters Anne and Susan tenn shillings apeece to be paid to them within twelve monthes after my decease

Item I give unto my daughters in law Bennett Drury and Susan Dummoll all my weareing apparrell wollen and linen to be equally devided betweene them

Item I give unto the poore of Mereworth twenty shillings to be distributed at my buriall or within one month after

And to this my Last Will and Testament I make and ordaine my sonne in law Thomas Bekcett my sole and whole Executor
And doe make and appoint my sonne in law John Cooke and Isaac Beckett Overseers to this my last will and testament and doe give them for their paynes five shillings apeece and what reasonable charges then shalbe at besides

In Wittnes whereof I the afoursaid Susan Cooke Testator have hereunto sett my hand and seale and allowed it as my Last will and testament the xxiijth day of December one thousand six hundred and three and fourty the marke of the abovesaid Susan Cooke

Sealed and allowed of in the presence of Edward Richmond the marke of Thomas Stone

This will was proved at London the nyneteenth day of June in the yeare of our Lord God one thousand six hundred fifty one before Thomas Walters Master of Arts and Surrogate of Sr [Sir] Nathaniel Burnt Knight Doctor of Laws Judge of the Prerogative Court by the oath of Thomas Beckett executor therein named To whom was comitted Administracon of all and singuler the goods chattells and debts of the said deceased hee being first sworne well and truely to administer the same

Notes:
On 15th June 1612 Samuel �Cookes� married Susan Hawkins at St. Laurence, Mereworth.
Samuel Cooke was buried there on 29th August 1632. A note in the margin states: �Who had been Parson of this Parish about Foure and Fourty Yeares�.
James Dunmoll & Susan Cooke married 21 May 1627 at Mereworth
John Drury & Bennett Cooke married 10 Sep 1610 at Mereworth
