In the name of God Amen
I Elizabeth Cooke of Rainham in the County of Kent Widow being in perfect sense understanding and memory, thankes be given to God, doe make and ordaine this my last will and Testament in manner and forme following
First I recommend my soule into the hands of Allmighty God who gave it unto me hopeing to be saved by the meritts of Jesus Christ, and my body to the earth, to be decently buried in the churchyard of Rainham aforesaid if it shall please God that I depart this world there or neare the same, or else else where at the discrecon of my Executor hereafter named if it be Gods will the I dye further from Rainham aforesaid>br> And as for my worldly goods which God in mercy hath bestowed upon me I give and bequeath the same as followeth

Imprimis I give and bequeath (all) that my Messuage or Tenement in Hartlip in the County of Kent together with the orchard and all other the appurtennes [appurtenances] belonging now or late in the tenure or occupacon of Thomas Butler of Hartlip aforesad unto my neece Mary Missing of Hothfeild in the County of Kent and to my neece Katherine Steers aforesaid ioyntly [jointly] during the naturall lives of them both together and wholly to the longest liver of them during her naturall life

And after the decease (whether before or after my death) to the heires of their bodies or to the heires of either of them if one happen to dye without issue and to the Children of such Heires And if it happen that there shall be noe heires in a direct line descending from my said neeces Then after the death of my said neeces I give the said Tenement to the heires of my neece Ann Tirrell deceased and to their heries for ever

Provided that if my cozen John Missen shalbe alive when for want of such heires as is aforesaid This Estate shall come to be my cozen Anne Tirrell Then my will is that they the said heires of my Cozen Anne Tirrell shall pay unto my Cosen John Missen five pounds out of the said Estate And if my Cosen Robert Steeres shall be alive when the said Estate shall upon the termes aforesaid come to the said heires of my cosen Anne Tirrell Then they shall pay unto the aid Robert Steeres the sume of tenn pounds out of the said Estate

Item I give unto my Cosen Mary Fenly liveing at the Anchor at Newington (Sittingbourne) in the County of Kent the sume of six pounds to be paid unto her within one yeare next after my decease And if she shall happen to dye before that time then my will and meaning is that the six pounds shalbe paid accordingly unto her Children

Item I give unto my Cosen Dorothy Boghurst lieving in the Hundred of How [Hoo] in the County of Kent or to her Children in manner aforesaid three pounds

Item I give to my Cozen Robert Swann twenty shillings and if he happen to dye before that mony be due, then I give that twenty shillings to my Cozen Boghurst or her Children

Item I give unto my Cosen Pawley at the Parke gate in the parish of Broomfeild in the County of Kent and to his wife that now is foure pounds apeice
Item I give to my Cosen Robert Sittingden foure pounds
Item I give to my Cosen Ambrose Davis foure pounds
Item I give to my Cosen Francis Brooke and to her husband that now is Six pounds

Item I give to my Cosen Anne Tyrrell�s Children eight pounds That is to say to John Tyrrell two pounds and ten shillings To George Tyrrell three pounds To Mary Tyrrell two pounds ten shillings which moneys shalbe be paid to my said Cosens John and George when they shall severally come to the age of one and twenty yeares And to my Cosen Mary when she shall come to that age or be marryed
And if any of these shall happen to dye before they shall come to that age aforesaid or be marryed as aforesaid then my will is that their share and portion shall be paid to the survivor or survivors of them
And my will and desire is that this eight pounds shall within one yeare next after my decease be put out to use at the discrecon and in the name of my Executor and Overseers of this my will that the principall may be secured for them as above and the interest be paid in the meane time

Item I give unto my loveing Sister Mrs. Gibbons twenty shillings to buy her a ring
Item I give unto Mr. John Edwards Vicar of Hartlipp twenty shillings
Item I give unto Mr. Thomas Smith of Rainham twenty shillings
I give to the poore of Rainham twenty shillings
Item I give and allow for the discharge of my funerall expences Five pounds
Item I give unto my God daughter and Cosen Elizabeth Pawley my wedding Ring

Item I give unto my Cozen George Brookes of Hartlipp and my Cosen Frances his wife my best Featherbedd my biggest Chest and my silver guilt spoone

And for the rest of my goods my will and meaning is that they shalbe equally divided and distributed betweene my said Cosen Brookes and his wife for [the] one part, the Children of my Cosen Pawley aforesaid by his now wife for a second share And the Children of my Cosen Anne Tirrell for a third part
And that the part or portion of these goods belonging to my Cozen Anne Tirrell�s Children shalbe left in the Custody of my Cosen George Brooke or his wife untill the Children be of age or be marryed as aforesaid

Item my will and meaning is that if there happen to be left and found of mine any overplus of ready money or debts belonging to me over and above the sume of Fifty pounds That then the necessary charges and expences belonging to the probate of my will and exhibitng my Inventory and other charges of the Court being first paid and discharged there shalbe paid by my Executor out of that overplus if it amount to soe much Tenne shillings apeece to my Cosen Pawleys foure Children

And if there remain any overplus as aforesaid The if it will amount to it my Executor shall pay unto my Cosen Ambrose Davis and my Cosen Robert Sittending aforesaid twenty shillings apeice and all the remainder whatsoever of such moneys or debts as aforesaid shalbe equally divided and distributed betweene my owne Sisters Children

Item whereas there is mention before of the Eight pounds given to the Children of my Cosen Anne Tirrell And that the said money should be put out to use And that the Interest should be paid unto the Children now my will and meaning is That soe long as my Cosen George Tirrell shall dwell and sojourne with my Cosen George Brooke or his wife shall recive the Interest of that eigh pounds towards the maintenance of that George Tyrrell only, otherwise it shall be given to them all three as above

Item my will is that all these Legacies in money above menconed (unless they be otherwise expressed) shall be paid by my Executor within one yeare after my decease

Item I doe nominate make and appoint my Cosen George Brookes of Hartlipp aforesaid my sole and whole Executor of this my last will and Testament

Item I doe appoint and desire my loveing friends Mr. John Edwards, Vicar of Hartlipp aforesaid and Mr. Thomas Smith of Rainham aforesaid to be the Overseers of this my will and Testament desiring thier care and assistance that all things be performed according to my true meaning intent and purpose

In Witness whereof I have hereunto sett my hand and seale (publishing and declaring this to be my last will and Testament revokeing and making void all former wills whatsoever) the foure and twentieth day of Aprill in the yeare of our Lord God one thousand six hundred sixty and six [1666]

Whereas there is mencon made above of my Cousen Robert Steeres and my Cosen John Missen without any further discrepcon [description] of them, it is to be understood that by them are meant the husbands of my neeces Katherine Steers and Mary Missen of Hothfield aforesaid and this was sett downe before the sealing
