In the name of God Amen
I Susanna Cooke of the Town and Borough of Deal in the County of Kent Spinster being in Good health and of Sound and disposing mind Memory and Understanding (Thanks be to God for the same) Yet considering the Uncertainty of this Transitory Life doe for avoiding Controversies after my decease make publish and declare this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following
First and principally I recommend my soul to God that gave it and my Body to the Earth from where it is to be decently interred at the discretion of my Executrixes herein after named and as for the Worldly Estate wherewith it hath pleased God to bless me I give and dispose thereof as followeth (That is to say)

First I do give and bequeath unto my loving Mother Joanna Cooke of the Town and Port of Sandwich in the said County Widow All the Interest that shall become due from the Time of my Decease for the six hundred and Fifty pounds Principal Money that I am Intitled to Under the Will of the late Captain Andrew Elton deceased to the Time that the same Principal Money shall be paid to my Executrixes
And then I direct and Appoint that my Executrixes as soon as Conveniently may be after such payment of the said Principal Money to them shall and do place and dispose out at Interest on Government of other Good Security or Securities the Sum of Six Hundred pounds part of the said Six hundred and Fifty pounds And the Interest and proceed thereof do and shall pay to my said Mother Joanna Cooke for and during the Term of her natural Life by Equal half Yearly payments

And in case the said Principal Sum of Six hundred and Fifty pounds that I am so intitled to as aforesaid shall happen to be paid me in my Life Time Then I direct and appoint my Executrixes Immediately after my Decease to place and dispose out at Interest on Government of other Good Security or Securities the Sum of Six Hundred pounds And the Interest and proceed thereof shall and do pay to my said Mother Joanna Cooke for and during the Term of her natural Life by Equal half Yearly payments

And from and Immediately after the decease of my said Mother Joanna Cooke Then I give and bequeath the said Principal Sum of Six hundred pounds (of which my said Mother is before directed to have the Interest for her Life) unto my two Sisters Sarah the wife of Samuel Woodcock of Deal aforesaid Gentleman and Mary Cooke of Sandwich aforesaid Spinster in the following Shares and proportions (That is to say)
To my said Sister Sarah Woodcock the sum of Two hundred and Fifty pounds part thereof
And to my said Sister Mary Cooke the Sum of Three hundred and Fifty pounds Residue thereof

Also I do Give and bequeath unto my said Sister Mary Cooke all my household Goods and Furniture whatsoever
Also all and Singular the rest residue and remainder of my Goods Chattels Effects Debts Money and personal Estate whatsoever and wheresoever and of what nature kind or Quality soever the same shall Exist and be at the Time of my decease not hereinbefore disposed of (after deduction of my Funeral Expences Legacies hereby given and debts by me owing) I do give and bequeath the same unto my said Sisters Sarah Woodcock and Mary Cooke Equally to be divided between them Share and Share alike

And [I] do nominate and Appoint my said two daughters [Sisters] Sarah Woodcock and Mary Cooke Executrixes of this my last Will and Testament
And lastly I revoke and make void all former and other Wills by me made and do make and declare this only to be my true and last Will and Testament

In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and Seal the Ninth day of April in the Seventeenth Year of the Reign of His Majesty King George the Second And in the Year of Our Lord One Thousand Seven hundred and forty four

The before registered Will of Susanna Cooke late of Deal in the diocese of Canterbury Spinster deceased was proved the 14th day of September in the Year of Our Lord 1745 by the Oaths of Sarah, Wife of Samuel Woodcock and Mary Cooke, Sisters of the said deceased and Executrixes named in the said Will To whome Admon. [Administration] of the Goods etc. of the deceased was committed they being first Sworn duly to Execute the same.

Susanna Cooke and her siblings were the children of Thomas and Joanna Cooke of Sandwich, thus (all christened at St. Mary the Virgin, Sandwich):
30 Apr 1699 Sarah (She married Samuel Woodcock 7 Nov 1740 at St. Leonard, Deal);
26 Oct 1701 Thomas; 5 Jan 1703 Stephen; 7 Jan 1704 Susanna; 13 Apr 1707 Faith;
26 Jun 1710 Mary (She married Henry Lucas on 31 Dec 1744 at St. Peter, Sandwich);
12 Oct 1712 Thomas.
Thomas Cooke married Joanna Cranbrook on 28 Nov 1695 at St. Peter, Sandwich. (Both otp.)
Mother Joanna Cooke, mentioned in the Will, was buried 2 Apr 1752 at St. Mary the Virgin, Sandwich.
