In the name of God Amen I Martin Cook Mariner late belonging to His Majesty�s Ship Enterprise and now sick on shore at the Hospital at Deal in the County of Kent being of sound and disposing Mind and Memory and considering the perils and dangers of the Seas and other Uncertaintys of this transitory life do for avoiding Controversies after my Decease make publish and declare this my last Will and Testament
First I recommend my Soul to God that gave it and my Body I commit to the Earth or Sea as it shall please God to order and as for and concerning all my worldly Estate I give bequeath and dispose thereof as followeth / That is to say /

all [and] singular such pay Sallary Wages Sum and Sums of Money Lands Tenements Goods Chattells and Estate whatsoever as shall be any ways due owing or belonging unto me at the Time of my Decease I do give devise and bequeath the same unto my loving friend William Hale Mariner now belonging to ye said Ship Enterprise

And I do hereby nominate and appoint the said William Hale full and sole Executor of this my last Will and Testament hereby revoking all former and other Wills Testaments and Deeds of Gift by me at any Time heretofore made And I ordain and testify these presents to stand and be for and a my only last Will and Testament

In Witness whereof to this my said Will I have set my hand and seal the ninth day of November in the Year of our Lord One Thousand Seven hundred and Forty eight and in the Twenty second Year of the Reign of His Majesty King George the Second over Great Britain

The above registered Will of Martin Cook deceased having & Goods etc. was proved the Twenty third day of November in the Year of our Lord 1748 Before the Reverend Thomas Lamprey, Clerk, Lawfull Surrogate to the Worshipfull George Paul Doctor of Laws Commissary General of the City and Diocese of Canterbury lawfully constituted And Administration of the said deceased�s Goods etc. was granted to William Hale, Sole Executor named in the said Will he being first sworn well and truly to perform the same

HMS Enterprise was a 48-gun fifth rate launched in 1693 as HMS Norwich (1693). She was renamed Enterprise in 1744 as a 44-gun fifth rate and was broken up in 1771.
Martin Cook�s burial (on land) not found.
