In the Name of God Amen
I Richard Cook Surgeon of the Parish of Hearn in the County of Kent being in a sound and disposing Mind and Memory and Considering the Uncertainties of this Transitory Life do for avoiding all Controversies after my decease make publish and declare this to be my last Will and Testament in the manner following (that is to say)
I First recommend my Soul to God that gave it and my Body I commit to the Earth as it shall please God to order and as for and concerning all my Worldly Estate I Give bequeath and dispose of as follows (that is to say)

To my beloved Wife Mary Cook of the Parish of Hearn in the County of Kent all such Sum and Sums of Money Lands Tenements Goods Chattels and Estate whatsoever as shall be in any ways due owing or belonging unto me at the time of my decease I do give devise and Bequeath the same unto the said Mary Cook above named

And I do hereby nominate and appoint the said Mary Cook Executrix of this my last Will and Testament hereby revoking all former and other Wills Testaments Deeds of Gift by me at any time heretofore made and I do ordain and ratify these presents to stand and be for and as my only Will and Testament

In Witness whereof I have set my Hand and Seal this ninth Day of January in the Year of our Lord One Thousand seven hundred and sixty eight and in the eighth Year of the Reign of his Majesty King George the third

This Will was proved at London the ninth Day of September in the Year of our Lord One Thousand seven hundred and seventy six before the Worshipful Francis Simpson Doctor of Laws Surrogate of the Right Worshipful Sir George Hay Knight Doctor of Laws Master Keeper or Commissary of the Prerogative Court of Canterbury lawfully constituted by the Oath of Mary Cook Widow the Relict of the deceased and the Sole Executrix named in the said Will to whom Admon. [Administration] was granted of all and singular the Goods Chattels and Credits of the said Deceased having been first sworn duly to administer. Exd.

Notes:
Mr. Richard Cook was buried at St. Martin, Herne on 15th August 1776.
Richard Cook married Mary Wiles on 5th October 1752 at Christ Church Cathedral, Canterbury. He was of St. Mary Northgate, Canterbury; She was of the Precincts of the Cathedral.
