This is the last Will and Testament of me Barbara Cooke of the parish of Saint Paul in the Borough of Longport [and City of Canterbury] in the County of Kent Widow
First and Principally I recommend my Soul to God and my Body I commit to the Earth to be decently buried at the discretion of my Executor herein after named And as for all such Worldly Estate as it hath pleased Almighty God to bestow upon me I dispose thereof as followeth

I give and bequeath unto Edward Kingsford the Elder of Littlebourne in the said County of Kent Miller the Sum of one hundred pounds of lawful Money of Great Britain

I give and Bequeath unto Captain George Cole of Kirby street Hatton Garden London the like Sum of one hundred pounds of like lawful Money of Great Britain and also my Worked Bed and my Silk Quilt and the pictures of my deceased Father and Mother

I give and bequeath unto Miss Mary Cole daughter of the said Captain Cole my Silver Coffee pot and all other my plate whatsoever
I give and bequeath unto Mrs. Elizabeth Byrch Wife of the Reverend Mr. William Dejovas Byrch the Sum of ten pounds of lawful Money of Great Britain

I give and bequeath unto Mrs. Elizabeth Huggett Widow daughter of the late Mr. Thomas Benge deceased the like Sum of Ten pounds of like lawful Money of Great Britain
I give and bequeath unto Mrs. Anna Baily Widow housekeeper of the Reverend Mr. Beauvior the like Sum of ten pounds of like lawful Money of Great Britain

I give and bequeath unto my former Servant Mrs. Mary Knifton Wife of Charles Knifton of the parish of St. Paul aforesaid Taylor the like sum of ten pounds of like lawful Money of Great Britain
I give and bequeath unto my present Maid Servant Elizabeth Ridder the Sum of Twenty five pounds of like lawful Money of Great Britain and the further Sum of like lawful Money for Mourning and also all my Wearing Apparel whatsoever

And I do hereby Will order and direct that all the said Legacies by me before in and by this my last Will and Testament given and bequeathed unto the several Legates before named shall be paid and delivered unto them severally and respectively by my Executor hereinafter named out of my Personal Estate within three Calendar Months next after my Decease

I give and bequeath all the rest and residue of my Goods Chattles ready Money Securities for Money Money in the Publick Stocks or Funds of this Kingdom and Personal Estate whatsoever and wheresoever unto my worthy Friend and acquaintance Thomas Smith of the City of Canterbury Bookseller and printer and one of the Aldermen of the said City and to his Executors Administrators and Assigns for ever to and for his and their own proper use and benefit
And I do hereby make nominate constitute and appoint the said Thomas Smith Sole Executor of this my last Will and Testament

And I do hereby publish and declare this and no other to be my last Will and testament, hereby revoking all former Wills and Testaments by me made In Witness whereof I the said Barbara Cooke the Testatrix have to this my last Will and Testament in one Sheet of Paper contained set my Hand and Seal the Twentieth Day of January in the Year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and seventy nine
