William Coveney of Yalding, Clothier, will dated 20 Nov 1591

�100 to William Coveney my sonne to be paied to hym by my executrix when he shall come to the age of 20 yeres ould
�100 to Richard Coveney my sonne when he shall come to the age of 20
�100 to John Coveney my sonne when he shall come to the age of 20
�100 to Edward Coveney my sonne when he shall come to the age of 20
�100 to Thomas Coveney my sonne when he shall come to the age of 20

�100 to Katherine my daughter to be paied her by my executrix when she shall come to the age of Nynteene yeres oulde
�100 to Elizabeth my daughter when she come to the age of 19

Allso yf my wife shoulde fortune nowe to be with childe of a man childe, then my will is that he shall have �40 out of either of his brothers partes of currant money to be paied to him when he shall come to the age of 20 yeres
But yf it be a daughter then I will that she shall have �20 out of either of her brothers partes

Allso all the residue of my goodes and cattells I give to Johane my wife towards the bringinge up of my children and payinge of my debtes and Legaceys whom I make and ordeyne Executrix to this my last will and Testament.

Allso my will and mynde is that my executrix shall put out the �700 within one whole yere after my decease towards the bringinge up of my children so that yt be not above �6 6s 8d by the hundredth for a yere, upon good Landes or bondes according to the discrecion of my Uncle Nicholas Coveney and my brother John Balsar and my brother Robert Kenarde whom I make and ordeyne my overseers.

But yf my foresaid wife happen to marrye then I will that the profit of all the money shall goe to the use of the children as they come to their severall ages of 16 yeres and not before. And as they come to theire severall ages, so she shall paye them theire porcons.

But yf my executrix shall refuse this my will and will not prove it within one quarter of a yere next after my decease, then I do appointe my three overseers in full power of Executors to this my last will and to execute yt with as full force as she shoulde in all ways and means only that they shall allowe and paye her �150 of good and lawfull money within six monthes after my decease

This is the last will and Testament of me the foresaid William Coveney of Yaldinge in Kent, cloathmaker, of all my landes, tenements and hereditaments which lye in the countie of Kent or els where the daye and yeare aforesaied

First, I give unto William Coveney, my sonne, my messuage called Beancover (?) and 6 peeces of Land adioyninge with --- yardes, gardens, wateringes, Barnes and other buildings whatsoever and closes and other commodities whatsoever And allso other landes lyinge on the Easte side of Greenestreet All which landes, messuages with other landes lying in Yalding which I lately boughte to me and my heires in fee simple of Thomas Richardes sometime of Yaldinge.
Allso I give unto the said William one parcell of Lande which I lately boughte of Mr Edward Fillmor Esquire conteyning in the whole fyve peeces which do amounte unto twoe and twentie Acres more or lesse, called and knowne by the name of Berry lande, Lakefeilde and the Finches or by what name so ever they be called. Which landes and tenements before recited with all the wayes and commodities thereunto belonging, I give unto the foresaid William Coveney and his heires in fee simple for ever. And he to take the profit of it when he shall come to the age of twentie yeares.

Allso I give unto Richarde my sonne one tenement, one barne and twoe partes of a barne which were in three partes devided and fower parcels of Land conteyninge in the whole twelve acres more or lesse lyinge in Yalding with orchards, gardens and closes and othe commodities thereunto belonging which I lately purchased, to me and my heires, of John Dann of Yalding with all wayes and easementes thereinto belonginge.
And also one parcell of Lande knowne and called by the name of Dabtes conteyninge 3 Acres of lande more or lesse And also other landes lyinge on the est side of Greenstreete conteyninge by estimacon tenne Acres of lande more or lesse; which foresaid landes I lately purchased amonge other landes before cyted of Thomas Richardes sometime of Yaldinge. Allso I give unto the said Richarde one newe buildinge which I lately set up adioyning next unto the said messuage and Barnes which landes and tenements with buildings before cyted I give unto the said Richarde and to his heires in fee simple for ever. And he to take the profits of yt when he shall come to the age of 20 yeares.

Allso I give unto John my sonne one messuage with other Buildinges thereunto belonginge, and all the woodes, pastures and other commodities theruppon belonging lyinge in Farleighe aforesaid nere to Coxhoth which I lately purchased of Nicholas Clewe and Stephen Netter conteyninge in the whole by estimacion 33 Acres more or lesse.
Allso I give unto the said John my sonne one parcel of Landes adioyninge to the foresaid Landes conteyninge by estimacion one Acre and a halfe which I lately boughte of John Austen sometime of Loose.
All which tenements, woodes, Landes, wayes and other commodities I give unto the saied John and to his heires in Fee simple for ever. And he to take the proffitts of them when he shall come to the age of 20 yeares.

Furthermore I give unto Edwarde my sonne all my houses and Barnes ortyardes, gardens and closes and other commodities in the lane called by the name of Eastlane. Further I give unto the said Edwarde my sonne, twoe messuages with theire gardens, ortyardes and closes and wayes to them belonginge which I lately had by the gifte of my uncle Nicholas Coveney which lye in the broadstreete at Maydstone nere to the great gredge. All which houses, barnes, buildings, closes, gardens and other wayes and commodities I give unto the saied Edward and to his heires in fee simple for ever. And he to take the profit of them when he shall come to the age of 20 yeres.

Allso I give unto Thomas my sonne all the residue of my Landes in Yaldinge or else where before not bequeathed within the Countie of Kent whether yt be in fee simple or in Fee Farme or in Fee tayle, to hym and to his heires in Fee simple for ever, and he to take the profittes when he shall come to the age of 20 yeres.

Be yt allwayes provided that yf any of my sonnes happen to dye without heires of theire Bodies lawfully begotten that then my will and mynde is that theire partes so deceased shall fall equally amonge theire bretheren then lyvinge.

Be yt further provided and my minde and will is that Johane my wife shall take all the Rentes and profittes goynge and risinge out of my Landes and tenements towards the bringinge up of my children and payinge of my debts and Legaceys until my sonnes come to theire severall ages of 20 yeres when they shall pay to theire mother a yeerely rent out of theire landes and tenements.

Allso my will and mynde ys that Johane my wife shall maynteyne, susteyne and keepe all the messuages, barnes, tenements and Buildinges before recyted with bricke, tyle, thatche and tymber and well and sufficiently repaired in the like manner as they be nowe kept during the minoritie of the foresaid children.

Allso I give to the poore people of Yaldinge 40 shillings to be distributed amonge them by my executrix where she shall think good at the daye of my Buriall.
Allso I give unto every one of my servanntes 10 shillinges to be paied within one quarter of a yere after my decease
