Will of Richard Cox

of Frittenden, Kent

first I give and bequeath unto my only son William Burgess Cox my free hold field containing three acres more or less called a --- by the name of the common field situate lying and being in the parish of Biddenden and Cranbrook in this County to him and his heirs for ever on condition my son William Burgess Cox pays to his sister Hannah Dean the sum of nine pounds in � year and a day after my decease

I give a bequeath unto my beloved wife all my personal property for the benefit my children Sarah Fagg, Hannah Dean, William Burgess Cox and Mary Head after paying my just debts and funeral expenses and the effects on the farm ---- that they be appraised to my son William Burgess Cox my son as convenient after my decease

and I hereby nominate constitute and appoint my son William Burgess Cox and Mr David Southon, grocer of the parish Frittenden executors of this my last will and testament----- whereof I the said Richard Cox have to this my will and testament let and subscribed my hand and seal the 19th day of October in the year of our lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty eight

the mark X of Richard Cox signed sealed and delivered and published by the said testator Richard Cox as and for his last will and testament in the presence of the us who at his request in his presence and in the presence of each other have subscribed our names as witnesses ----

The before registered will of Richard Cox deceased was proved the twenty second day of April 1829 before the Revered John Metcalfe clerk surrogate of the worshipful Sir Herbert Jenner, Knight Doctor of law Officiate General Archdeacon of Canterbury, lawfully constitute by the oaths of William Burgess Cox and David Southon the executors named in the said will first sworn duly to perform the same.
