In the Name of God Amen The Third day of September in the first year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord King George the Second Anno Dni 1727
I John Crampe of the parish of Saint Peter the Apostle in the Isle of Thanet in the County of Kent husbandman do make and declare this my last Will and Testament in writing in manner and form Following, that is to say; first and principally I yield my Soul into the hands of Almighty God And my Body to be buried at the Discretion of my Executrix hereinafter named And as touching and concerning such worldly Estate as it hath pleased God to bless me with in this Life do give and dispose of the same in manner and form following that is to say;

Imprimis I will that all my just debts funeral charges and probate of this my will be first paid and discharged

All the rest and residue of all and singular my Goods Chattels Stock Householdstuffe and Personal Estate whatsoever wheresoever and of what Nature Quality or degree soever the same shall exist and be (not herein before bequeathed) I do give and bequeath the same unto my loving wife Martha Crampe to her use during the term she shall continue my Widow

And my Will is that from and after the decease of Martha my said wife or that she shall be married again which Shall first happen that my personal estate be equally divided into three parts or shares
One part to my Son Thomas Crampe
another part to my Son Martin Crampe
and One other part to my Daughter Rachel Crampe

And lastly I do nominate and appoint Martha my said Wife to be my sole Executrix of this my Last Will & Testament published and declared by the said John Crampe Testator to be his last Will and testament the day and year above written in the presence of Sarah Bing

2 March 1727/8
Appeared personally George Witherden of the Parish of St Peter in the Isle of Thanet Schoolmaster and Richard Harty of the same parish Cordwainer and deposed on the Holy Evangelists that they those Deponents were well acquainted with John Crampe late of the same parish Husbandman and that on or about the Third day of September 1727 the said John Crampe now deceased being then sick in Bed did give directions or Instructions to him the Deponent George Witherden in the presence of the other Deponent Richard Harty for the making of the Last Will and Testament of him the said deceased

Which Instructions were that the said deceased�s now Widow should enjoy the use of all his personal Estate during her Life and Widowhood and should be his sole Executrix
And that after her Death or Marriage his Personal Estate should be divided into three equal parts To wit, One part to his Son Thomas, one other part to his Son Martin and the other part to his Daughter Rachel Crampe

And that the said George Witherden then drew up the Last Will and Testament of the said dece�d according to his aforesaid Instructions and did then read the said Will over to the said deceased in the presence of the said Richard Harty and of One Sarah Bing

And the said deceased then declared his Approbation thereof and that It was agreeable to his Mind or to that Effect And the said deceased then attempted to sign the said Will but was so weak that he could not guide the pen and so died without signing the same And these Deponents do say that the said deceased was of sound and perfect understanding at the Time of giving Instructions and of hearing the said will read over as aforesaid and spoke very sensibly And these Deponents having now viewed the writing hereunto annexed purporting the Last Will and Testament of the said deceased he the said Richd. Harty believes it and the said George Witherden knows it to be the very will which the said deceased so heard read over and approved of as aforesaid George Witherden Richd. Harty.

Probate to Martha Crampe, widow relict and executrix
