In the name of God Amen The twentieth of October Anno dini 1649
I Thomas Crundwell of Penshurst in the County of Kent Husbandman being ill and weake of body
but of sound and perfect memory, thanks be given unto Almighty God therefore, doe make and
ordaine this to be my last will and testament in manner and fourme following (that is to say)
First and principally I comitt my Soule into the hands of Almighty God my Creator who made me of
nothing that I might be something in his sight And to Jesus Christ my Redeemer stedfastly
beleeveing [believing] without wavering to have free remission of all my Sinnes by and through his
death and passion, And as for my body being but earth I will the same to the earth from whence it
came to be interred at the discretion of my Executrix hereafter named
And as for that little part and portion of worldly substance wherewith the Lord hath endowed me
withall I give and bequeath the same as followeth
First I give and bequeath unto Elizabeth Oliver my wives eldest daughter tenn pounds of Lawfull money of England to be paid unto her within one yeare after the decease of my Executrix hereafter named if shee be then liveing and not otherwise
Item I give unto Thomas Crundwell my Nephew three shillings and fower pence of lawfull money of England
Item I give and bequeath unto Richard Crundwell my Nephew one shilling of lawfull money of England
Item I give and bequeath unto Nicholas Crundwell my Nephew one shilling of lawfull money of England
All which said three of my Nephews were the sonnes of my brother Nicholas Crundwell late of Penshurst deceased
Now as concerning the disposeing of my two Messuages Tenements and Lands within the Parish of
Penshurst before written I give and bequeath unto Elizabeth my Wife dureing her naturall life and noe longer
All my said two Messuages Tenements and Lands thereunto belonging with their
appurtenances in the Parish of Penshurst aforesaid I give as aforesaid unto Elizabeth my Wife
dureing her life she keepeing them well repaired together with the hedges ditches and fences there
unto belonging reserveing from her all timber and timber trees which are now? standing and being in
and upon the aforesaid Tenements and Lands
And after her decease I give and bequeath all the aforesaid Messuages Lands and Tenements unto my
loveing daughter in law Mary Goodhew To have and to hold to her and her Heirs for ever
All the residue of my goods Chattells and Utensills of howshold I give unto Elizabeth my wife shee paying and dischargeing all my debts and my Funerall .... ..... my hole Executrix of this my last will and testament
And I doe hereby [revoke and make void all former] Wills whatsoever
