In the name of God, Amen, in the 8th daye of the monithe of Julie in the yere of o[ur] Lord God 1557,
I, John Daye, of the parishe of Bennynden in the countie of Kent, being of hole mynde and of good remembrance, thanckes be given unto allmightie God, make my testament and last will as hereafter dothe followe.
First I bequeathe my sowle to allmightie God, to o[ur] blessed ladie, and to all the blessed companey of heaven, And my bodie to be buried in the churche yearde of Bennynden,
And I will that in the daye of my buriall shalbe bestowed at churche after the custom that is nowe used, and to the poore people, and to the refresshinge of them that com to my burienge at the discretion of my executor 10s.

And also I will and bequethe unto Willia[m] Daye my son my howse that I nowe dwell in and all my landes lieng and beinge in the parishes of Bennynden and Biddenden, under this condicion, that he well and trulie paie to his sisters owt of it as hereafter followithe.
First I will that he shall paie to Joan Tomset my daughter 20s.
It[e]m to Agnes Cowland 13s 4d.
And over and above that I will that he shall paie to Agnes Cowland 4s every yere duringe the terme of her naterall lif, to be paide quarterlei 12d every quarto[ur].
It[e]m I will give to Agnes my daughter �3 6s 8d and my best cowe that I have at the time of my deathe, at her owne choise.
It[e]m I bequethe to Alice my daughter �3 6s 8d and a cowe which she will chose next after her sister Agas.

And if it fortune my son Willia[m] to die before he be maried, then I will my said howse and lande to Agas my daughter, under this condicion, that she paie to every of her sisters or to their heires �20 of laufull money of Ynglande, to be paide in 2 yeres next after my son William�s deathe, in severall paymentes, that is to saye, half the first yere and th�other half the second yere,

And I make and ordeigne William my son to be my executo[ur] of this my last will and testament.

Also my will is that if William my son or aney of my daughters before mencioned do make aney disturbance or cause aney troble as concerninge my will and be not content w[i]t[h] ther porcion assigned unto them by this p[rese]nte will, then I will that ev[er]y one making or causing aney suche disturbance shall amytt and lose all and singuler such benyfit and comodities that he or aney of them shold take or have by this my p[rese]nte will.

This witnessith Laurence Daye, Edward Bigg, and Willia[m] Day my godson of the parishe of Bennenden, Richard Waters.

Probatum fuit p[rese]ns testamentum quarto die Septembris Anno d[omi]ni mill[es]imo quingen[tesi]mo quinquagesimo septimo Jurament[is] Laurentii Daye Edwardi Bigg et d[omi]ni Ric[hard]i Waters testiu[m] etc Ac approbat[um] etc Onusq[ue] executionis eiusd[em] co[m]missum est executori etc in testa[men]to no[m]i[n]at[o] Dat[um] etc

[The present will was proved on the fourth day of September in the one thousand five hundred and fifty seventh year of our Lord, By the oaths of Laurence Daye, Edward Bogg and Sir Richard Waters, witnesses etc, And approved etc, And the burden of execution of the same was committed to the executor etc named in the will. Dated etc.]
