In the Name of God Amen I Theophilus De L’Angle of the Parish of Goodnestone next Wingham in the County of Kent Clerk being of Sound and Disposing Mind and Memory, thanks be to God for it, Do make this my last Will and Testament in manner following

First I desire my Body may be Buried in whatever place my Dear and beloved Wife Margaret Shall think most proper And it is my Particular Desire that my Burial may be as Private and Performed with as little Expence as is consistent with Common Decency Particularly that there shall be no Pall Bearers or anything which may have the least Appearance of Pomp or Show

Also I Give and Devise all my Messuages Farms Lands and Tenements and Premises as well Freehold as Leasehold Situate lying and being in the several Parishes of Chartham Halden Cliff in or near the Hundred of Hoo Gravesend Ivy Church and New Romney in the said County of Kent and elsewhere unto my Dear Wife Margaret aforesaid for and during the Term of her Natural life she keeping the same in Good and Tenantable repair

And Immediately after her Decease I Give and Devise all and every the same Messuages Farms Lands Tenements Heredits and Premises aforesaid unto my Dear Son John Maximilian De L’Angle and to my Dear Daughter Genevova Berdmore their Heirs Executors and Assigns for ever Equally to be Divided between them Share and Share alike as Tenants in Common and not as Joint Tenants to their several and respective Heirs and Assigns for ever

Also I Give and bequeath unto my son John Maximilian all my Books and Papers
Also I Give and bequeath unto my said Wife Margaret the use of all my Singular my Household Furniture and Implements of Household for and during the Term of her Natural life and Immediately from and after her Decease I Give and bequeath the same unto my said Son and Daughter Equally to be Divided between them Share and Share alike
Also I Give to my said Wife all my Wood Coals and Liquor

Also all the rest and residue of my Personal Estate whatsoever not herein before Given and bequeathed or Disposed of I Give and bequeath unto my said Wife Son and Daughter Equally to be Divided between them Share and Share alike my Debts being first Paid and Satsifyed

And I do hereby Name and Appoint my said Wife Margaret and my said Son John Maximilian De L’Angle Joint Executors to this my last Will and Testament
And in Case the residue of my Personal Estate Shall not be Sufficient to Pay and Discharge my Debts then I do hereby Charge all and Singular my Messuages Lands and Premises aforesaid with the Payment of so much Money as the Residue of my Personal Estate shall be deficient in

In Witness whereof I the said Theophilus De L’Angle have to this my last Will and Testament contained in one Sheet of Paper and all wrote with my own hand set my hand and Seal this Twenty Second day of May in the 27 Year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord George the Second by the Grace of God of Great Britain France and Ireland King Defender of the Faith And in the Year of our Lord One thousand seven hundred and Fifty four Theophilus De L’Angle
