In dei noie Amen the XVth [=15th] day of August In the yeare of our Lord god Mth VC XLijyr [=1542] and in The XXXiiijth yeare of the Reigne of Kinge Henry theight
I Thomas Denne the eldre of the p[ar]ishe off Kingeston in whole mynde and memory do bequeath my soule to god allmightie to our lady Saynct Mary And to all the saynetes of Heaven my bodie to be buried in the Churchyard of Kingeston aforesaide next the stone of John Denne my granndfather

Itm I bequeath to the high Aulter there xijd And towards the reparcons of the Churche & Churchyard there iijli vjs viijd [£3.6s.8d]
Itm I bequeath to Ellys [=Alice] my Wiff all my household stuff [for the] t[e]rme of her lif[e] to do wth all as she will except as hereafter foloweth

And I bequethe unto thesaid Ellys my wif the p[ar]sell of the thre [=3] tenements and vi [=6] acres of land to them Belonging lyinge in the said p[ar]rishe of Kingeston Terme of her liff keeping due repacons [=repairs]
and then after her liff I will thesaid thre tenements and vj acres of lands shall remayne to Thomas Denne my sonne of Denhill He paying my debtes and bequestes

Itm I bequeath to James Denne my sonne all the rayment clothes of my bodie
I bequeath to the said James a chest that is in the little parlor wt ‘the bed and all things thereunto belonging w’th Hanginges also and I bequeath unto the said James a cupboard a folding table and formes w’ch are in my other p[ar]lour
I bequeath to the said James children Richard, Thomas, Vyncent, Agnes, Ellys and Mary to every one of them vjs viijd

I will that there be at my buriall V mass’s and Diriges & a vjs viijd to be geven to poore people unto evry pore bodye apeny and a halfpenny loaf so farre as the said a vjs viijd will reache
I will there be at my monthesmynd V masses and dirige and a seame of wheate to be baken in breade & to be geven to pore people
I will that there be at my yeresmynde V masses and Dirige and a seame of wheat to be baken for the Pore people
I will that there be masse and Dirige and XViijd dealt to pore people every Yeare by the space of iij years next after my Yeresmynd

I make Ellys my wiff sole executrix to dispose all things for the healthe of my soule
I make Thomas Denne my sonne of Denhill the Oversear of this my testament

This is the last will of me Thomas Denne theldre of the parishe off Kingeston made the XVth day of August in the XXXiiijth [=34th] yeare of the reyne of king Henry Theight and in the yeare of our lord god Mt VC XLijyr [=1542],

I will that Thomas my brother, Vyncent Rolff, Richard Mocket and Symon Alton shall enfeoffe Thomas Denne my sonne into my ten’ment called Denhill and into my tenement in Saynt Mayres in Sandwich to hym and to his heires lawfullly begotten forever,
And I give and bequeath to the said Thomas my sonne those yardes of grounde which lyeth in the parish of Bersham in fee simple

And the said Thomas my brother, Vyncent Roelf Richard Mockett and Symon Alton I will that they shall enfeoffe James Denne my sonne unto my tenement and land called Merley [=Marley] bought off Richard Andrew and Edward Wasson/Watson? of Canterbury and unto my tena[me]nt and lande at Wymlingfield bought off Thomas Nethersole of Eastry, and unto a tena'nt and land bought off Thomas Nethersole the son of Nicholas Nethersole and unto the lande bought off John Nethersole called Dane and unto a te[ne]ment and lande in the P[ar]shes of Wootton and Lydden to hym and to his heires lawfully begotten forever.
